Spring has sprung!  Thank God for that!

I also thank God for the response we are getting to our new message series, Forget You…Less of You, More of Him!  This week, we will continue on the path of Christ’s desire for all of us and we will examine what He has to teach us about focus in the area of prayer.  What does He desire, and how can we see this area grow in our lives? Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the Classic service at 9:30 and I will be teaching on Saturday night and Sunday at both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00.

Other upcoming events:

~ Please pray for the members of the Haiti team as they travel back home tomorrow.  We can’t wait to hear about their time at Fort Liberté!

~ Artists… there’s still time to submit a piece to the special art display for Lent.  The theme is “Less of Me, More of Him,” and the pieces are currently displayed in the Fellowship Mall for the next few weeks.  Pencil/pen, paint, photography, poetry, and digital mediums will be accepted. If interested in submitting a piece, call or text Pastor Bryan at (201) 638-8319 or email him at bbunagan@cbcnj.org.

~ Join us for our Good Friday service on April 18 at 7 pm.  This will be a special time of worship and communion as we reflect on Christ’s sacrifice.  Childcare will be available from birth to 5 years old.

For those who were not here last weekend, we announced that Stephanie Earle, our Director of Children’s Ministry is going to be stepping down from her position in June.  She and Jason are expecting a little girl in July and we are excited about this next chapter of their lives.  Stephanie has done a great job in ministering to children and adult volunteers the past two years and we will miss having her in that role.  We are now looking to fill that role and if you are interested, please send your resume to Irene Knott at iknott@cbcnj.org  We will be honoring Stephanie in the weeks to come, but for now, when you see her, thank her for her service for the kingdom!

I hope you will be with us this weekend!  I know that God has something in store for all of us as we focus on Him and his heart for us!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, March 14, 2014

Dear Central,

I hope that you are having a blessed week!  I am so thankful for the way that God is moving in so many ways at Central!

This week, I was walking into our Next Steps Life Group when a woman stopped me in the hall to tell me that a friend she was bringing on Wednesday nights had trusted Christ as his Savior that evening!  WOW!  Praise God!  Then during our Life Group I watched as believers were interacting in community and growing in understanding of the Word of God and love for each other.  We also learned how one member of our group is now signed up to be baptized on Palm Sunday! WOW! Praise God!

This past week I have heard over and over again how God has challenged people to walk with HIM in their marriages and how real change is taking place as a result of HIS blessing our recent MAKING LOVE LAST series!  God is at work, and I can’t wait till this weekend to see what He is going to do!

We are starting a new series that will take us right up to Easter.  We are calling the series FORGET YOU…Less of YOU and More of HIM.  We are going to be focusing in on different events that took place in the life of Christ on his path toward the cross that teach us so much about living a life of victory.  I will be preaching in both Modern Services this Sunday and our teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service.  I am also really excited to welcome my brother, Dan Gay, who is the campus pastor of 217 Church in East Windsor, to speak on Saturday night at our 6 pm service!  Dan is a passionate follower of Jesus who has a message to share.  Kim and Lydia and I will be on our way back from Cedarville, Ohio as we take one last look at Cedarville University as Lydia makes her final decision about college this fall, so I have asked Dan to fill in for me.  For those of you who attend on Saturday night, you will be blessed!

By the way, you’re invited to enjoy a cup of coffee at our Worship Café on Sundays starting at 9:00 am. Light refreshments will be served in between services.

Few other things to be aware of:

~ Please pray for the members of the Haiti team as they leave tomorrow.  They will be working in Fort Liberté to help finish an orphanage there.  We are thankful for their willingness to show the love and compassion of Jesus!

~ Guys, join us at the Men’s Breakfast tomorrow at 8 am to enjoy awesome food, connect with some great guys, and hear practical encouragement from the Bible.  The speaker is Central’s Men’s Ministry Director Chad Tulumalo.

~ Learned a lot from the MAKING LOVE LAST series and want to dig deeper?  The Art of Marriage, an exciting 6-week class, begins next this Sunday, March 16th at 9:30 am.  Sign up by e-mailing Pastor Anthony at agilmer@cbcnj.org.

~ Calling all artists!  As a community expressing love and gratitude to Jesus, we are seeking artists to submit pieces for a special art display for Lent.  The theme is “Less of Me, More of Him,” and the pieces will be displayed in the Fellowship Mall starting on this Sunday, March 16th.  Even though the display starts this Sunday, we will continue to accept submissions in the next few weeks.  Pencil/pen, paint, photography, poetry, and digital mediums will be accepted. If interested in submitting a piece, call or text Pastor Bryan at (201) 638-8319 or email him at bbunagan@cbcnj.org.

~ On Saturday, April 12, Community Connections team is sponsoring a special Motorcycle Rally for Promise of Grace Ministries to benefit a local home for unwed mothers. Service openings include greeting, lunch prep/serving, setup/cleanup, and security. Check out www.promiseofgrace.org to learn more about the ministry. Signups begin the weekend of March 29-30 in the Fellowship Mall.

~ Save the date for the next Believer’s Baptism!  It will be held Palm Sunday weekend, April 12-13 at both Saturday and Sunday services!  If you are interested in getting baptized, please sign up through the Connect Card or e-mail Pastor Anthony Gilmer at agilmer@cbcnj.org

One last thing: I want to thank all of you who give so faithfully and sacrificially to this ministry!  Whether you give online or in the offering plate each weekend, it is because of your faithfulness that we are able to continue to reach people here in our community and around the world.  Thank you for investing in the kingdom!

See you this weekend!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, March 7, 2014

Dear Central,

I want to start by saying we were all saddened and shocked by the recent explosion that took place in Ewing.  We have connected with the authorities to see how we can help, and if you want to help those affected by this situation, please call the Ewing Donation Line at 609-538-7587.  Please continue to keep these families in your prayers and thank you for showing the love of Christ in a tangible way.

We will be concluding our series on relationships, Making Love Last, this weekend.  Jeremy Bell, our Pastor of Worship and Mission, will be teaching on Saturday night and at both Modern Services on Sunday.  I will be teaching in the Classic service at 9:30. I would once again remind you that this series is not designed for children so we encourage you to place your children in one of our excellent children’s programs when you come to worship.  Thanks for keeping that in mind.
