Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, February 28, 2014

Dear Central Family,

I hope that you will be with us this weekend as we continue our series MAKING LOVE LAST!  This series has gotten a great response from those who are married and those who are single.  We all need to learn and sharpen our skills in relating to one another.

This week we are going to talk about a very important element of relationships: communication.  I guess I put that in bold to make sure you are hearing me!  Seriously, so much conflict could be resolved if we all would learn how to effectively communicate to one another, and our Heavenly Father -- the Greatest Communicator of all -- gives us practical principles from His Word.  I will be teaching on Saturday night at 6 pm and both Modern Services on Sunday morning.  Our Pastor of Student Ministries, Bryan Bunagan, will be teaching in the Classic Service at 9:30.  Please plan to come and bring someone with you.  It was so great to see so many of you this past weekend, so plan to come back and bring someone else!

Upcoming Events:

~ Want to know what Central is all about? Interested in becoming a member? The next Discover Central class begins this Sunday, March 2nd at 9:30 am.  E-mail Pastor Anthony Gilmer at agilmer@cbcnj.org or just come to Adult 3 (Board Room) this Sunday.

~ Have you completed the church survey yet? It's not too late!  You can pick up a copy in the Welcome Center or fill it out online. The online link is available through this Sunday, March 2.  Don't miss this opportunity to provide feedback on how we can be even more effective as a ministry!

~ Guys, join us on Saturday, March 15th at 8 am for our next Menʼs Breakfast.  Enjoy awesome food, connect with some great guys, and hear practical encouragement from the Bible.

Pencil/pen, paint, photography, poetry, and digital mediums will be accepted. If interested in submitting a piece, call or text Pastor Bryan at (201) 638-8319 or email him at bbunagan@cbcnj.org.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, February 14, 2014

Dear Central Family,

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I was looking over the mounds of snow around my home last night after yet another winter storm.  We’ve definitely been hit hard this season!  Thankful God knows what He is doing and we are along for the ride.

Hope you will be with us this weekend as we kick off a new series of messages on the topic of relationships.  We are going to be looking at what the Bible has to say about a love that lasts.  This series has been designed for both married and singles, so please come and invite someone to come with you.  I will tell you the services will be uplifting and challenging and will help all of us to understand how God wants to equip us to walk in love.  I will be teaching on Saturday night and in both Modern Services on Sunday.  Pastor Anthony Gilmer will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic service.

Also, during each service this weekend, we will also be giving you an opportunity to fill out a church survey as we seek to give you an opportunity to help us evaluate the health of our ministry. This is your chance to give valuable feedback.

Upcoming Events:

~ Please pray for the 25 students and leaders who will be going on the Junior High Retreat this weekend in North Bay.

~ Wow, did you respond to the call for help for the upcoming Meals and More Outreach on February 22!  All of the food donation and serving spots have been filled!  Thank you for being open to what God told you to do.  We still have a need for thick wool socks as well as extra hats and twin size blankets.  If you are able to purchase these items to donate, please drop them off in the bin in the Fellowship Mall by February 22 at 9 am.

~ Congregational Business Meeting and Lunch next Sunday, February 23 at 12:30 pm.  Get the latest on all the exciting things happening here at Central as well as updates and a sneak peak on what the future holds. Lunch will be served ($3 each for 10 years old and above, $1.50 each for 9 years old and below, with a maximum cost per immediate family of $12).  Childcare is available up to age 5.  Click HERE to RSVP.  If you need childcare, please indicate the names and ages of your children in your RSVP message.

~ Please note that Central’s office will be closed this Monday, February 17th due to President’s Day.

See you this weekend!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, February 7, 2014

Dear Central Family,

It's been another week where we've had to deal with the effects of a winter storm!  I know that many in our church family lost power this week as a result of the ice storm, so I hope this message finds you indoors AND warm.

Come to Central this weekend (where we do have electricity and heat!) for any of our services.  Our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will be preaching at the Saturday night service at 6 pm and the Classic Service at 9:30 am on Sunday.  I will be at the Sunday Modern Services sharing a message about Baptism: The Why, the How, the Who, and the When.

We will also have Believer's Baptism this Sunday.  If you have not been baptized and you want to take this next step, just bring a change of clothes and come to the office area during either of our Modern Worship Services.  And even if you forget to bring a change of clothes, we have a change of clothes for you!  Now you might be thinking, "Pastor, it's winter… it's going to be freezing in that baptismal!"  No worries… the water will be warm and will be just fine!

Upcoming Events:

~ Come and join the Women's Ministry New TOMORROW for the annual Women's Prayer Walk!  It will be from 8:30 to 11:30 am.  This prayer walk is indoors, so no worries about being outside in the cold!   Childcare is available up to age 5 and a continental breakfast will be provided.

~ The Junior High Retreat is next weekend, February 14 to 16!  Join hundreds of other junior high students at North Bay for an insanely fun and life-changing getaway that students won't want to miss!  Contact Bryan Bunagan at bbunagan@cbcnj.org for more information.

~ We will be asking the church family to complete a Church Health Survey next Sunday, February 16 during all the services. The survey should take about ten minutes to complete.  Donʼt miss this opportunity to provide feedback on how we can be even more effective as a ministry.

~ CommunityConnections needs your help!  At the upcoming Meals and More Outreach, we're serving a hot meal to those in need of one at the Salvation Army in Trenton on Saturday, February 22. You can help prepare a meal, donate food, or help serve on site. Also, starting this weekend, we will also be collecting socks, hats, and blankets to help others stay warm this winter. Please visit the table in the Fellowship Mall or contact Cathy Brown (cathybrown823@gmail.com or 609-818-1480) to see how you can be a part!

~ Congregational Business Meeting and Lunch on Sunday, February 23 at 12:30 pm.

Finally, next weekend, we will begin a new message series on relationships called Making Love Last!  More details to follow!

See you this weekend!
