Finally, I want to let you know that we will be making a change in our weekend worship schedule.  We will no longer be offering our Unplugged service starting on February 9.  The last Unplugged service will be held this Sunday, February 2.  We are so thankful for all the work and effort that Mark and Ginny Kraft have put into this service with their worship teams this past year and I know that a number of you were blessed by this service.  I am thankful for the sacrifice and love and care that both Mark and Ginny have put into this service and we are thankful that they are willing to continue to use their gifts with us in our worship ministry.  This was a difficult decision to make, but we feel that it is the right direction for us as a church.  Thank you to everyone who served and participated in our unplugged worship.

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, January 24, 2014

Dear Central Family,

This has been an interesting week with the snow, the cold, the snow days that it is hard to remember what day it is!  Hopefully we will see some relief, but I am thankful for a warm home and my basic needs being met.

I am also thankful that I serve in a church filled with people who delight to worship and serve our Lord in order to impact others for the kingdom!  This weekend we will continue our series New Rules of Resolution and we will be examining a very interesting account of Scripture where Jesus encountered someone who needed to learn a life-changing lesson.  I am excited to share with you this weekend what God has been teaching us from this passage.  I will be teaching on Saturday night and both Modern Services.  Pastor Anthony Gilmer will be teaching at the Sunday morning Classic service and 11:00 Unplugged service.  So bundle up, bring the family, and be prepared to hear from the Lord this weekend!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, January 10, 2014

Dear Central Family,

WOW it has been cold!  I hope that you and your family have been safe and are well!

I am thankful for the way that the staff worked on such a short notice when we had to cancel the 9:30 am services this past Sunday due to the weather. I am also thankful for those of you who were able to come out for the 11:00 Worship Service.  God was present and we were all encouraged!

We will be continuing our series The New Rules of Resolution this weekend!  I will be teaching on Saturday night at 6 pm and at both Modern Services on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  Jared Alcántara, our Teaching Pastor, will be back and teaching in the 9:30 Classic and 11:00 Unplugged services.  We will all be focusing on Rule #2 and I know you will be encouraged in your walk with the Savior.

Speaking of Jared, we are excited to announce that on Sunday January 26 at 6 pm, we as a church will have the great privilege to officially ordain Jared as a Minister of the Gospel.  What does this mean? Jared has been examined by the elders as to his call to ministry, his doctrine, and his ability to use his gifts for the kingdom.  The congregation now has the joy of officially setting him apart as a Minister of the Gospel.  This is a special occasion, and we will have a special worship service followed by a reception for Jared, his wife Jen, and their family.  I know that Jared has been used by the Lord to impact all of us, and this is our time to show our support to him and His calling for the kingdom.  So please plan to be present on January 26.  Childcare will be available up to age 5.

LifeGroups are starting up again soon!  Come to the LifeGroup Fair this Sunday in the Fellowship Mall to check out the groups that are meeting.  You can also click here to look through the list of groups, which can be sorted by category, meeting day, and start time.  There are groups meeting on almost every day of the week!  Once you see a group you are interested in, you can sign up on the website as well.

Wednesday Night Alive resumes next Wednesday, January 15 at 7 pmChildren’s clubs start up again (ages 5 to 11) and Adult Life Groups will begin meeting.  Childcare will be provided for birth to 5 years old.

The first Men’s Breakfast of the new year is next Saturday, January 18 at 8 am.  The speaker is Neil Hall, also known as Dunamis, a dynamic and talented gospel reggae artist who attends Central with his family.  Come jumpstart the new year with breakfast, fellowship, and spiritual refreshment

Sunday morning LifeGroups begin next Sunday, January 19.  Also among the groups that are starting that day is Discover Central, a 4-week class for those who want to learn more about what our church believes and/or want to take the next step towards membership.  It will meet at 9:30 am in Adult 3.  If you would like to attend, you can click here to sign up or you can e-mail Pastor Anthony Gilmer at agilmer@cbcnj.org

The Senior High Retreat is coming up!  This retreat will be a fun and life-changing getaway your students won’t want to miss! Join hundreds of other students at Lake Champion for the weekend of January 24 to 26. Contact Bryan Bunagan at bbunagan@cbcnj.org for more information.

The Women’s Annual Prayer Walk is on Saturday, January 25 at 8:30 am.  Start the new year off with prayer and fellowship with the women of our church.  This prayer walk is indoors, so no worries about being outside in the cold!  Breakfast will be served and childcare is available up to age 5.

A reminder that 2013 Year-End Giving Statements are now available through Fellowship One.  For instructions on how to access your statements, please scroll down to the bottom of this e-mail.

One last item:  During these winter months, if you have any questions about whether or not any of our weekend services will be held, please check the website (worshipatcentral.org), our Facebook page (facebook.com/worshipatcentral), your e-mail inbox, or call the church.  We are working on an automated system to alert everyone by phone call, but until that is in place, you can be sure to get any cancellation announcements through these other means.

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, January 3, 2014

Dear Central,

What a week this has been!

We started with our first New Year’s Eve service in years!  I had the joy of joining over 200 people in our Worship Center and we literally lifted the roof off with praise and worship.  We were blessed beyond imagination as we had two guest worship teams lead us to the King as we celebrated HIM! It was certainly a great way to say goodbye to 2013 and look forward with anticipation to 2014!  Now, here we sit in the aftermath of winter storm Hercules, and I am very thankful it will have come and gone before the weekend activities will begin.

This weekend we will kick off a new series that will focus on how life change takes place that really lasts. We have called it the New Rules of Resolution.  I can’t wait to share with you what God has given us to challenge all of us with as we seek to grow in Christ and honor Him with our lives!  This weekend, I will be teaching at the Saturday Night 6 pm service and both Modern Services on Sunday Morning at 9:30 and 11:00.  Our Pastor of Student Ministries, Bryan Bunagan, will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic and 11:00 Unplugged services.  We will be celebrating communion in each service, so you can see we are going to start this year out with a great momentum as we move forward in growing in our walk with Christ!

Also, this Sunday (as well as the following Sunday), we will be having our LifeGroup Fair in the Fellowship Mall.  Come check out the new groups that will be meeting this semester.  There are groups almost every day of the week!  Wednesday night groups start on January 15 and Sunday morning groups start on January 19.  Most of other groups start that week as well.  Come check the LifeGroup fair out and pick up a LifeGroup brochure.

The Women’s Annual Prayer Walk is coming up on Saturday, January 25th!  Start the new year off with prayer and fellowship with the women of our church.  This prayer walk is indoors, so no worries about being outside in the cold.  More details to come, but please save the date, ladies!

2013 Year-End Giving Statements are now available through Fellowship One.  For instructions on how to access your statements, please scroll down to the bottom of this e-mail.

Finally, I want to take this time to thank everyone for all the work and effort that they put into our Christmas outreaches.  Because of your diligence, literally hundreds of people felt at home through the whole month of December as a result of the lights, decorations, and all the effort that went into every program or outreach that we made to our community.  Because of your generosity, hundreds of children had gifts to open on Christmas morning!  Because of your servant’s hearts, hundreds of people were greeted and cared for in each service and outreach.  So thank you for putting aside your agendas in order to impact others’ lives for eternity.

I thank God for all of you and am looking forward to a powerful year of growth and impact this coming New Year!

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay
