Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, August 30, 2013

Dear Central Family,

I hope you are enjoying the last week of summer!  I am looking forward to getting back on track with the fall and having everyone back with us as we kick off an exciting fall season.  More details on that later.

This Labor Day weekend is going to be one of great impact!  We are going to focus what the King has to say to us about a crucial subject: How are we to respond when we see a believer wandering from the path of the King?  Is it true I am not to judge?  Or do I have a responsibility to get involved with the person who is struggling?  We have called this weekend’s message, Speck and Plank.  I will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service and the 11:00 Unplugged service, our Pastor of Student Ministry Bryan Bunagan will be teaching in the Saturday night service, and our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will be teaching in both Sunday morning Modern Services. So we have a full smorgasbord of teaching for you to choose from!  We will be celebrating communion in all our services this weekend.

Now regarding the fall:  Due to a later start for some school districts this September, we are holding off on our Fall Kickoff until later in September.  But here are some critical dates:

Sunday, September 8

I Love My Church Sunday

We will celebrate what God did this past summer through our World Changers trip, Brazil Missions Team, and Kids Camps in Ewing and Trenton.  We will conclude with a celebration of baptism.  Also, the LifeGroup Fair is that Sunday, so check out the groups that will be offered this fall!

Sunday, September 15

LifeGroup Fair continues

Wednesday, September 18

The Open House

What Open House?  THE Open House!  More details next weekend. Childcare will be provided for Pre-K to 5th Grade.

Saturday, September 21

Men’s Breakfast, the first one for the fall!

Sunday, September 22

Fall Kickoff with children promoted to new classes and new Sunday Morning LifeGroups starting

Wednesday, September 25

Wednesday Night Alive begins!

So you can see we have a lot of exciting things being planned to get you started the right way this fall.  So enjoy your last few days of vacation, but hope to see you this weekend!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, August 23, 2013

Dear Central,

We have experienced an outstanding week of Kids Camp at Trenton!  We are so thankful for all the volunteer staff who worked so hard on this week of outreach and who worked tirelessly for this to be an effective and exciting presentation of the love of God for the children of Trenton!  A week like this reminds us of the importance of reaching children with the gospel and the power that is exhibited when everyone is reaching toward one goal.  Thank you for your prayers and your donations of backpacks and supplies – the kids were blessed because of your obedience!

Speaking of Trenton, we are looking for volunteers for Monday, August 26 at 6 pm to help finish up the work started at Grant Elementary School from Central Cares Day.  With school on the horizon, we’d like to finish up the work started there before the new year begins.  We can use more people to help with some painting, so if you can volunteer or if you have any questions, please contact Toni Campbell at cc@cbcnj.org.  The group will be meeting in the Grant School parking lot (159 N Clinton Avenue in Trenton) at 6 pm on Monday.

Bowling Night is next Wednesday, August 28!  It will be held at Colonial Lanes in Lawrenceville from 6 to 8 pm.  The cost is $12 per person for bowling, laser tag, two slices of pizza, and soda.  Everyone is welcome!  Please note that advance registration with payment is required for this event, so please go to this link to register.  You can also register at the Fellowship Mall this Sunday between services.  Questions?  Please contact Jonathan Uy at jon@uyfamily.com

The Men’s Retreat is coming up on October 18-20 and registration is open!  The retreat will be held at Sandy Cove Conference Center in North East, Maryland and weekend’s theme is “The Cure: What if God isn’t who you think He is and neither are you?”  For more details on the retreat, go to Sandy Cove’s page.  To register, go to this link or stop by the Men’s Ministry table at the Fellowship Mall this Sunday.  If you have any questions, please e-mail Pastor Anthony Gilmer at agilmer@cbcnj.org.

This weekend, we will be talking about a topic that is applicable to all of us – WORRY, and what does the King have to say to all of us about this important timely subject.  I will be teaching in the Saturday night and both Modern Services on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  Pastor Anthony Gilmer will be teaching in the Classic and Unplugged services.  We are both looking forward to sharing with you this practical teaching from the lips of our King!

See you this weekend!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, August 16, 2013

Dear Central,

I hope that you are enjoying your summer!  We just returned from a week of vacation in Vermont and had a great time just relaxing, refreshing, and recharging (the preacher in me never goes away!)

We are looking forward to being with you this weekend as we continue our series on Life in the Kingdom with two great teachers!  Our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will be teaching at the 9:30 Classic and 11:00 Unplugged services.  Our Pastor of Worship and Mission Jeremy Bell (who is fresh from a missions experience with our team in Brazil) will be teaching on Saturday night and at both Modern Services on Sunday.  We have called the message this weekend SECRETLY AWESOME!  You will be blessed no matter which service you choose to worship in.  I am looking forward to being part of the congregation this weekend with you and seeing God speak to our hearts.

There is still time for you to help us out with school supplies and backpacks for the children at our Kids Camp in Trenton at First Baptist Church this week.  Just bring them to the Fellowship Mall and drop them off.  We are really excited about what God is going to do this coming week.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 9, 2013

Dear Central Family,

Hello everyone, it’s Pastor Anthony.  Pastor Gay and his wife Kim are enjoying a much-deserved vacation so I’m writing this week’s pastoral e-letter.

We praise God for the safe return of our Brazil team!  We’re looking forward to hearing about the work they’ve done in Porto Velho.  Thank you so much to everyone who partnered with the team through prayer and/or finances.  The team will give a report on their mission trip on a future date, but in the meantime, check out the pictures and updates on Central’s Facebook page

Kids Camp Trenton is coming up soon!  It starts on Monday, August 19 and goes through Friday, August 23 and will be held at the facilities of the First Baptist Church of Trenton.  We still need volunteers, so please contact Stephanie Earle at searle@cbcnj.org if you can serve.  Also, we need donations of new backpacks and school supplies which will be distributed to kids in the community.  Please drop off  any donations in the bin at the Fellowship Mall.

We are still looking for a few host families to house Japanese Students from the Word of Life camp. The students would be arriving the evening of Friday, August 16 and will need a place to stay until the morning of August 19.  If you can host some students, please e-mail Irene Knott at iknott@cbcnj.org.

Join Central for a Bowling Night on Wednesday, August 28 at Colonial Lanes in Lawrenceville from 6 to 8 pm! The cost is $12 per person for bowling, laser tag, two slices of pizza, and soda.  Everyone is welcome!  Please note that advance registration with payment is required for this event, so please go to this link to register.  Questions?  Please contact Jonathan Uy at jon@uyfamily.com

Registration is open for the annual Men’s Retreat on October 18-20!

If you are in town this weekend, please join us at any of our five weekend services as we continue our Life in the Kingdom series.  You have heard that it was said, ‘’Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth,” but what did Jesus say? Come and learn His desire for our life in the Kingdom.  I will be preaching in the 9:30 Classic and 11:00 Unplugged services on Sunday morning and our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will be preaching at the Saturday night service at 6 pm and both Modern Services on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.

See you this weekend!

Prayer Request: Marie Benedetti's Aunt

Please pray for Marie Benedetti’s aunt Mary Ann who had major surgery on her ankle and is not doing well. She was moved into ICU because her blood pressure is low and her pain is very high.  Please pray for her healing, for wisdom for the doctors who treat her, and for peace for their family.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 2, 2013

Dear Central Family,

Can I just tell you, I LOVE THIS CHURCH!  Thank you for making this a place where lives can be impacted for eternity!

We are so thankful for what God continues to do to allow us to fulfill the vision He has given to us.  Last week we extended the love of Christ to over 200 children through Kids Camp, and the Worship Center was packed with kids and parents last Sunday for the Kids Camp Closing Production during the 11:00 Service.

This week, we were able to send off a team of energized, passionate followers of Jesus to serve in Brazil for a week of impact!  (For Brazil updates, like Central’s Facebook page.)

Add to this, we are now putting final touches on Kids Camp Trenton which will be held August 19 to 23.  We are packing and taking  Kingdom Rock on the road using the facilities of the First Baptist Church of Trenton!  We could use your help in these ways:

1.      We need volunteers!  Contact Stephanie Earle, Director of Student Ministry, at searle@cbcnj.org to be part of the team!

2.      We need new backpacks and school supplies!  Please drop them off at the bin in Fellowship Mall.
