Please pray for the family of Rebecca Baker (husband David and son Nate), as Rebecca passed away on Sunday, July 28.  She and David attended John Kennedy’s Life Group.  Calling hours are this Friday, August 2 from 10 to 11 am followed by a service at 11 am, both at the Wilson Apple Funeral Home.  Lunch will be served afterwards at Central in Allen Hall.

Carol Cottrell requests prayer for her sister Marilyn.  She is still having problems and is very weak after a mild stroke.

Please pray for the mission team traveling to Porto Velho, Brazil as they leave for their trip today.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: July 26, 2013

Dear Central,

I hope that you have had some time to come by and check out Kingdom Rock Kids Camp this past week!  Kids Camp has rocked with 200 children enrolled in a week of fun, teaching, worship, and adventure.  I want to express my deepest gratitude to all the volunteer staff who led this powerful week!  You all rocked!

You will have one more chance to experience the joy of Kingdom Rock this coming Sunday at the Kids Camp Closing Celebration during the 11:00 Worship Service.  The kids will be singing the fun songs they’ve learned and we will be presenting a special drama (featuring some of the pastoral staff : ) ) that sums up the teaching of the week.  You will get to experience the magnificent Kingdom Rock setting in the Worship Center.  So this is definitely a Sunday to come, bring a friend, and join the celebration.

We will also be holding our regular worship services on Saturday night and on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  Our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will teach on Saturday night at 6 pm and the Sunday 9:30 Modern Service.  Jared Smith, a recent seminary graduate who has ministered previously, will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic and 11:00 Unplugged services.  So we are offering a full variety of opportunities this weekend to worship and Celebrate!

This weekend, we are taking another special offering for the Brazil team, whom we are sending off as they leave this Tuesday, July 30.  The following people have committed to serve (picture is below, clockwise from top left): Michelle Domboski, Shantell Missouri, Joe Anstatt, Nikema Missouri, Moses Knott, Ray Abashkaron, Mike Groop, Jeremy Bell, Staci Gibison, and Kate Berrien.  To give towards the Brazil offering, please mark  BRAZIL on your check and we will see that it gets to these individuals’ support.  Thank you for your sacrifice.

Finally, we praise God for the safe return of our World Changers team this past Monday from their short term mission trip to Tennessee.  The team thanks you for your prayers and they look forward to sharing about their experience with the congregation.

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: July 19, 2013

Dear Central Family,

The pace of activity is pretty high around here this week as we get ready for Kids Camp next week!  I hope you have taken time to invite all your friends and family who have children to come and participate.  You can tell them to register by coming on Monday night at 6 pm.  It is going to be a rocking time of learning about what it means to be a child of the KING!

We also need help this weekend with Kids Camp setup and decorating.  If anyone can help on Saturday (tomorrow), please come at 2 pm. On Sunday, we will begin after the services. Lunch will be provided and child care from birth to age 5 will be available from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Children from kindergarten and up will be asked to help. Also, we need shoeboxes (about 30) and a working fountain (we can take more than one).  If you have any questions, please e-mail Stephanie Earle at searle@cbcnj.org.

I also want to let you know that we are offering a free Parenting Seminar during the whole week we have called, “Am I Messing Up My Kids?”  Each night will feature a special guest speaker and will deal with aspects of rearing healthy children. My wife Kim and I will be hosting this seminar and look forward to what we are all going to learn!  We will meet from 6:30 to 8:15 pm each night, so you can come, drop off your kids and then come to Adult 3 (formerly called the Board Room) for a fun night of enrichment!  For a list of speakers and topics, please scroll down below.

This weekend we will continue our series on the Beatitudes, and we will all be learning what it means to be blessed and persecuted.  These are two terms that seem to contradict themselves, but you will be surprised how Jesus wants to work through our lives when we are willing to trust Him!  I will be teaching on Saturday Night and at both Modern Services.  Our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will teach in the Classic and Unplugged services.  So plan to come and be challenged and blessed!  Please note that the Classic Service will be meeting in Central Hall this Sunday (instead of Allen Hall) to help us set up for Kids Camp in Allen Hall.

As part of our services this weekend, we are going to be taking a special offering for our team that is traveling to Porto Velho, Brazil for evangelism from July 30 to August 9.  The following people have committed to serve: Ray Abashkaron, Joe Anstatt, Jeremy Bell, Kate Berrien, Michelle Domboski, Staci Gibison, Mike Groop, Moses Knott, Nikema Missouri, and Shantell Missouri.  They have been raising their own support but are still a long way off from having all their needs met.  We ask you to please ask God what He would like you to do to help them fulfill their step of obedience to our King.  Just mark BRAZIL on your check and we will see that it gets to these individuals’ support.  Thank you for your sacrifice.

Finally, please pray for our church as we start this week of Kids Camp, that kids will come with open hearts, that our staff team will be energized and creative as they present the truth of God’s love, and that children will trust Jesus as their Savior.  We need you to pray for true fruit to remain.  Thanks!

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: July 12, 2013

Dear Central Family,

Peace at any cost?  Is that a Biblical way to live?  Or how about ignoring conflict just to keep the peace—is that a godly, Christ-honoring response?  These are tough questions and questions we are going to seek to answer as we continue our series Forgotten Virtues this weekend.  I will be teaching on Saturday night at 6 pm and Sunday at both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00.  I am looking forward to being back in the pulpit this weekend!  I am also excited to tell you that Jared Alcántara, our Teaching Pastor, will be back after a bit of a leave due to the birth of his beautiful third daughter and will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic and 11:00 Unplugged services.  This is a topic that we all wrestle with, and I think you will be surprised at how clearly Jesus gives us directions for skillful living. Hope you will be with us!

KIDS CAMP is coming up on July 22 to 26!  Pick up some Kingdom Rock Kids Camp invite cards and give them out to the kids in your neighborhood.  It is going to be week of ROYAL FUN!

Finally, the World Changers team left this morning to minister in Knoxville, Tennessee.  They will return on Monday, July 22.  Please pray for their safety as they travel and work and also for opportunities to share Christ.  For a list of team members (so you can pray for them by name), scroll down below to see the World Changers prayer card.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: July 5, 2013

Dear Central Family,

Belated Happy Fourth of July!  I hope that you enjoyed time with family and friends as you celebrated the freedom we have in our land and even more the freedom we have in Christ!  We are truly a blessed people and we want to be sure that we don’t take that freedom for granted.

This weekend is going to be a powerful time of worship and instruction as we continue our series Forgotten Virtues.  We will be examining what Christ meant when He said, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God,” a simple but power-packed statement that has such relevance in our everyday lives.  Pastor Anthony Gilmer will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic and the 11:00 Unplugged service.  Pastor Jeremy Bell will be teaching on Saturday night and at both Modern Services on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  If you have plans on Sunday I would encourage you to bring your family out on Saturday night and experience Saturday nights at Central.  I love this service and am so encouraged by how God is using this service as another option to help us connect with God.

Thank you for all who attended our Annual Business Meeting!  It was a great time of food and fellowship with the church family.  We approved the budget and elected officers for 2013-14.  Below is a list of those elected (scroll down).

KIDS CAMP is coming up on July 22 to 26!  We want to thank everyone who marched in yesterday’s Ewing Fourth of July parade to promote Kids Camp.  We handed out all the candy and the Kids Camp flyers!  Special thanks to Heather and Joe Redmond who coordinated Central’s participation in the parade.

Just a few reminders about Kids Camp:

~Registration for Kids Camp is open!  If you would like to register your children, you can go to the link below or stop by the Kids Camp table this Sunday in the Fellowship Mall.
