Central's Pastoral E-Letter: April 26, 2013

Dear Central,

Things are really electric around here as we are counting down the hours until our big Celebration Sunday worship service and All Church BBQ this Sunday

We will be wrapping up our GREATER series with one combined worship celebration at Kendall Hall at The College of New Jersey at 10 am this Sunday.  (Note:  We will not have a Saturday night service this weekend.)  This combined worship service will include a special program for our children as well.  So note all the details below regarding this special weekend, including a link to sign up for the All Church BBQ.  God is at work, and we are anticipating GREAT things from Him as He works through all of us this weekend to take steps of greater commitment for greater impact on our surrounding communities.

Speaking of surrounding communities, we will wrap up our day of worship with a Gospel Prayer Service this Sunday night at 5:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Trenton (128 Centre Street).  It is going to be a great day!

I hope you are planning to be with us!  Please take time to post on Facebook and invite others to come with you.  We are ready to go, we just need you to come and party with us!

See you Sunday!

Pastor Gay

MAP AND PARKING DIRECTIONS can be found here.

Even though Kendall Hall is within walking distance of Central, we are asking that everyone drive to and from the combined service.  We are discouraging people parking at Central and crossing Pennington Road due to safety concerns.

If you need assistance from the parking lot to Kendall Hall, there will be a golf cart shuttle that can bring you the venue.  For those that need a shuttle, please make sure you park in Lots 2 and 2A.

CHILDCARE will be available during the combined service.

~Elementary Parents:  Please be advised that the check-in system has changed for this morning.  When you drop off your child, you will receive a wrist bracelet with a number on it.  Your child will have a bracelet with the matching number.  If you have multiple children, you were given a second number as well.  When you pick up your child, a volunteer will check your bracelet with your child’s to make sure they match.  You don’t need to turn them in.  Thank you so much for your cooperation!

~Infant to Pre-K Parents:  Please be advised that the check-in system has changed for this morning.  When you drop off your child, you will receive a ticket.  Please keep this in a safe place because you will need to show it when you pick up your child at the end of the service.  If your child is in the Infants/Walkers room, you will also receive a pager.  Please make sure you return this as well.  Thank you so much for your cooperation!

ALL CHURCH BBQ

If you haven’t yet RSVP’d for the All-Church Barbeque, please click here to respond.  Please note that since the All Church BBQ is a family event, there will be no childcare during lunch.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: April 19, 2013

Dear Central Family,

I am continually amazed at the power of God as displayed when His Spirit works through His people!  This week has been an exciting week of ministry!

I am anticipating a wonderful time of ministry this weekend.  We will be continuing our GREATER series and our study of the life of the Old Testament prophet Elisha as we look at how our faith will be stretched as we trust God.  What a challenge for all of us!  I will be teaching in all the Modern Services and Jared Alcántara, our Teaching Pastor, will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic and 11:00 Unplugged worship services.  In both of the Sunday Modern Services, we will be celebrating with those believers who wish to follow the Lord in baptism.  That is always an exciting time, and if you have not been baptized I would encourage you to take this step this Sunday!  Bring a change of clothes, and we will have Deacons and Elders on hand to assist you.  It is going to be a power packed time of worship and dedication!

I want to remind everyone that NEXT weekend, April 27-28 we will have ONE COMBINED WORSHIP SERVICE at The College of New Jersey’s Kendall Hall at 10 am!  We have reserved this location for the entire Central family to come together for worship, celebration, testimony, and praise for what God has done and the GREATER things He wants to do through us.  Maps for parking on campus and directions to Kendall Hall will be distributed this Sunday.  If you need assistance, you will be able to park your car in on one of the TCNJ lots and we will have rides from your car to the door of Kendall Hall!  You will not want to miss this special service.  Children’s programs will be provided from birth to 5th grade.

Then after the April 28th combined service, we will come back to the Central and celebrate with an All Church BBQ.  To help us plan for the event, please RSVP to the All Church BBQ using the link below:

http://event.pingg.com/allchurchbbq

We will then conclude April 28th with a gospel prayer service at First Baptist Church in Trenton at 5:30 pm.

Please note we will not have a Saturday night service April 27 due to the combined service on April 28.

So mark the events of Sunday, April 28th down and plan to be part of our celebration of the GREATER things God has in store for all of us! He is doing GREATER things than all of us could imagine because we are all opening ourselves up to the work of His Sprit through us all!

Finally, I ask for our church family to continue to pray for the people of Boston and the safety of the law enforcement officials there, and also for the people of West, Texas.  “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:10 NIV

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: April 12, 2013

Dear Central Family,

I am very encouraged by the responses that we have been receiving since I shared the vision of our Greater Campaign last weekend! If you were not here last weekend, you can go to this link and get the full presentation in brochure format.

As a result of sharing the vision in different life groups and in one on one conversations, I have heard comments such as, “We are going to pray about what God wants us to do, so we can do it!” “I am a college student, and I want to be part of this mission”, “I am now going to consider how I need to be more faithful in giving to the kingdom”.  So I am asking all of us to just keep on praying as we prepare to bring our sacrificial commitments on April 28 to our Celebration Sunday at 10 am which will be held at Kendall Hall at TCNJ. I also would encourage you if you have questions to be sure and attend your life group this week, or one of two special informational desserts I will be hosting on Tuesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 18, both at 7 pm in Adult 6.  These will be informal times to share and answer any of your questions.  If you are not attending a life group, please plan to come to one of these two desserts.

I am looking forward to this weekend, as we continue our series GREATER and look at the life of Elisha the Old Testament prophet.  His life is filled with challenge to all of us as we seek to follow God to greater things in our daily walk with Christ.  I will be teaching in all of the Modern Services: Saturday night at 6 pm and Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  Jared Alcántara, our Teaching Pastor will be teaching in both the Classic at 9:30 and the Unplugged at 11:00.  I hope you will be at one of our 5 services and will bring someone with you. This series is going to be an encouragement and challenge to all of us!

Finally, men of Central… join the Men’s Ministry for Maximum Impact: Central Men’s Mini Retreat tomorrow from 9 am to 3 pm.  It is a FREE event with breakfast and lunch included.  Get ready for a fun and challenging day with friendly competitions and helpful workshops.  Please contact Pastor Anthony Gilmer at agilmer@cbcnj.org with any questions.

God is at work, and I am thankful for you!  See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: April 5, 2013

Dear Central Family,

Thank you for going above and beyond the call to make all of our guests feel welcome and at home last Easter weekend.  We had just under 1000 people in attendance, and that broke all records!  A number of guests let us know that you invited them to come, so thank you for reaching out this way!  Thank you to everyone who served in any way, from worship team, greeters, and parking hosts to ushers, café hosts, impromptu custodial workers and all the children’s workers.  It was a super weekend!

Now I have some very exciting news!  We are going to unveil a new series starting this weekend at all 5 of our worship services!  We are calling it GREATER!  I am really excited about what God is going to do in and through this series.  I also want you to know that I will be teaching in all 5 worship services (I will have my roller skates on) but am ready to go!  I will be sharing with everyone the new expanded vision that God has given our staff and elders to make a greater impact in our surrounding communities.  I will tell you this: it is definitely a God-sized faith vision, and we need everyone to be on board to see it accomplished.  So please plan to be present at one of our services either Saturday night at 6 pm or Sunday morning at 9:30 or 11:00.  I look forward to seeing you then!

God is at work, and we are so grateful for what he is doing, and the GREATER things He will do!

Pastor Gay

P.S. Remember that the new Unplugged service in the beautiful renovated Central Hall was not a one-time service at Easter.  It is now every Sunday at 11:00, so if you are looking for a more relaxed acoustic contemporary service, our Unplugged is for you. Come check it out!
