Central's Pastoral E-Letter: March 29, 2013

Dear Central Family,

I can hardly wait till everything gets started here at Central to celebrate the defining Day of History for us as followers of Christ!

So let’s recap one more time:

Good Friday Worship and Communion at 7 pm TONIGHT!

Saturday Night Service at 6 pm

Sunday Morning: 4 Worship Services

9:30 Classic Service in Allen Hall (Special Easter Breakfast 8:45 am)

9:30 Modern Service in Worship Center

11:00 NEW Unplugged Service in Central Hall (old Adult 1-3)

11:00 Modern Service in Worship Center

I will be teaching in all the Modern Services and Saturday Night Service, Jared Alcántara will be teaching in our Classic and Unplugged services.

Just a reminder: Unplugged is designed for your friends who like contemporary worship in more of a relaxed and laid back atmosphere.  Wait till you see the way Former Adult 1-3 has been redone and is now Central Hall.  We are very excited to offer this new worship service.

Special Children's Programs will be available Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Few things I need to ask of you:

1. There is still time to invite someone to come with you to one of our weekend worship services.  Take the time to reach out you will be so glad you did!  You can even use this Facebook invitation

2. When you come, come early and sit toward the front and leave the back seats to our guests.

3. Please take time to reach out and make everyone feel at home and welcome.  Your smile could be the difference in someone coming back after Easter.

4. Please take time to pray and ask God to do a special work this weekend.

See you this weekend!  It is going to be one to remember!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: March 22, 2013

Dear Central Family,

I am really excited about the worship that we have planned for this weekend as we wrap up our series on our ministry core values, “I Know He Is But What Am I?”  We have planned an exciting time of worship and teaching in all of our worship services.  Our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic and I will be teaching in our Saturday Night Service at 6 pm and both 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services.

I want to encourage you to make plans to celebrate Easter with us starting on Good Friday Evening at 7 pm.  We will meet in the Worship Center for a wonderful time of praise and worship and communion.  Jared will be bringing the message and this is a great opportunity for all of us to just pause, reflect, and celebrate the sacrifice of Christ that sets us free.  (Please note that childcare will not available that evening.)

Our Easter Services will then kick off with 5 different worship opportunities: Saturday at 6 pm, and then Sunday 9:30 Classic,  9:30 Modern, 11:00 Modern and also at 11:00 our new Unplugged service.  Some may ask, why do we have so many different venues for worship?  The reason is: the more venues we offer, the more opportunities we have to impact people and connect them with God.  Different people connect with God in different worship styles, and we continue to grow as a church as we keep on creating more opportunities for people to choose a service that connects them in worship.  So take the step to invite someone to come with you and celebrate EASTER at CENTRAL!  Invite Cards are available in the welcome Center.

I also want to let you know that the staff and Elders have been working very hard on finalizing plans to present to you our vision for the next five years.  We will be unveiling this on the weekend of April 6-7 in all the worship venues.  I can’t wait to share with you the God-sized vision that God has given us and how we can all be a part of making a greater impact than we have ever seen in the past.  So please plan to be here for one of our 5 services.

I also want to ask you to please save the date of Sunday April 28.  We will have one service that weekend (no Saturday night service) at 10:00 am at Kendall Hall at TCNJ.  This will be an awesome time of worship, praise, and celebration as we gather together as a body to celebrate the changed lives as a result of God working through this ministry and the potential of even greater impact in the future.  We will wrap up this service with an all church BBQ picnic at Central.  It is going to be a defining moment in the history of Central, and you will not want to miss it.  More details to follow, so stay tuned.

See you this weekend… I cannot wait to see what God is going to do!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: March 15, 2013

Dear Central,

Though Kim and Lydia and I had a wonderful time on our trip to China, it is so good to be back at home! We missed worshipping with you all and look forward to being with you this weekend.  We will continue our series on our core values entitled, “I Know He Is, But What Am I?” and I will be teaching in our Modern Services on Saturday night at 6 pm and on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00 am.  Our Teaching Pastor Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service.  We will be looking at the value of service and sacrifice and I am excited about the messages God has given to both of us to share with you.

Please be in prayer for the women who will be on our Women’s Retreat this weekend, and the guys who are left home to keep order.  Guys, I know you can handle it and I look forward to seeing you this weekend.

I want to take time to say a couple of things about our finances.  First, thank you for your faithful gifts that you give each week to this ministry.  We are totally dependent on your sacrificial gifts to fund the vision that God has placed before us. Second, I want you to know  that in recent weeks our weekly offerings have fallen short of our need and I would ask everyone to prayerfully consider what God would have you do and just do it.  You can give either through our online giving at our website or through your offering at our weekend services.  Thank you for considering the lives that are being changed every week in this ministry and stepping up and doing your part.  Thank you for your faithfulness.

Easter will soon be upon us and we wanted you to know that we are planning a special Good Friday Worship service on March 29 at 7 pm that will include worship in an unplugged acoustic style as well as a special observance of communion.  So please plan to come and join us for this special time of worship, reflection and praise as you kick off your Easter weekend. Then we will start Easter with our Saturday night service at 6 pm and four additional worship services at 9:30 and 11:00 on Sunday morning.  So as you can see there will be 6 different opportunities for you to choose from and to invite friends and family to come with you.  We are excited about the fact that we are starting our new Unplugged worship service on Easter Sunday at 11:00 am.  This service will be meeting in Central Hall (formerly Adult 1-3) which is being prepared for a special environment to connect you and your friends with God in worship.  We have invite cards for all of our Easter services available in our Welcome Center, so take the plunge and invite someone to come along with you as it is going to be an Easter to remember!

Finally, I want to let you know of two very special dates that I want you to mark on your calendar.  The first is the weekend of April 6-7.  Please plan to attend one of our worship services. I will be speaking in all five of the services and sharing the vision that the staff and Elders have been working on that we want to present to you the congregation that will guide us for the next few years.  I am very excited about revealing this to you and I am asking everyone who is part of the Central family to come to one of these services.

Second, I would ask you to mark down Sunday, April 28 as we will be meeting together as one body at The College of New Jersey for one worship service to celebrate the lives that have been changed and the vision that God has placed before us to see even greater impact in the future. We will conclude our time of worship with an all-church BBQ for the whole Central family.  So keep your eyes open to more info but for now just mark down these dates.

See you this weekend!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: March 1, 2013

Dear Central,

I am so thankful to God for the things I see happening in this ministry!  Last Sunday, we were blessed by Jared Alcántara’s ministry to us in the Modern Services and I am happy to announce that at that afternoon’s Semi-Annual Business meeting, our congregation voted to give Jared the title of Teaching Pastor.  Jared has served with us for three years and we wanted to be clear that he is a member of our Pastoral Staff and wanted to give him the title to show that is the case. He will continue to preach in our different worship services three times a month while he completes his doctoral studies at Princeton Seminary.  I am so thankful that the congregation has voted to affirm him, his gifts, and his ministry to all of us in this way.  He and Jen are a blessing to all of us!

At the business meeting, we also celebrated the graduation of Central’s first Men’s Leadership Training Course!  This group of men completed a one-year training and mentoring under the direction of Pastor Anthony Gilmer.  I am very excited as this is an example of how we are seeking to multiply disciples who multiply disciples.  Look at this picture and pray for each of these guys in days ahead as they now seek to step into ministry positions where they can develop their gifts of leadership.  Left to right: Sean Fitzsimmons, Jeremy Self, Steve Marshall, Andrew Lieu, Mark Stevens, Chad Tulumalo, TJ Muehleisen, Joel Martin, Tim Bond, Brian Cavanaugh, Steve Wells. This weekend, we will continue our series I Know He Is But What Am I?  Tucker Brown, our Elder Board chair and graduate of Biblical Seminary will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service.  Jeremy Bell, our Pastor of Worship and Mission, will be teaching in our three Modern Services on Saturday night at 6 pm and Sunday morning at 9:30 and 11:00.  They will each be focusing on what it means that God is a God who meets people where they are and how that is a calling for us as individuals and as a church.  God has been working in this series in great ways and I know you will be blessed at any of these worship services.

There is still time to register for the Women’s Retreat on March 15-17Guest speaker is Anita Keagy of JoyShop Ministries and the retreat theme is Seeking God First.   To view the retreat brochure, go to this link.  Online registration is now available by going to this link.  (Log in using your Fellowship One log-in if you have one already.  If you don’t have one yet, click on “Create an Account”).

New worship service in Adult 1-3 (now called Central Hall) starting on Easter!  The Unplugged service will be at 11:00 am in and will feature the same message as given in the other weekend services with a live teacher, but the worship will be unplugged in a relaxed café style atmosphere.

Speaking of Easter, our schedule that weekend is as follows:

Please start praying about whom you can invite to come with you to one of our Good Friday Service and our FIVE Easter weekend services!  It is going to be a weekend to remember!

One last thing I want to encourage you to save the date of Sunday, April 28 for CELEBRATION SUNDAY!    We are going to all join together for one worship service at 10:00 am at Kendall Hall at TCNJ and celebrate what God has done and the vision that God has placed before us to make even greater impact in the next few years.  We will then follow the service with an all-church lunch that everyone will be talking about.  So more details to come, but for now save the date and keep watching for more information!

Come this weekend ready to be blessed!
