Central's Pastoral E-Letter: January 25, 2013

Dear Central Family,

We are starting a new message series this weekend that we have called Mr. and Mrs. Better Half.  This is a series designed for all of us to learn God's plan for relationships.  The world gives us all kinds of advice as to how to be happy, but we will examine what the scripture says so we can have joy in the marriage relationship.  I say this is designed for all of us, because if you are married, you know for sure that we can all use encouragement and a tune-up to sharpen our ability to show love and respect to our mate.  If you are single, this series can guide you with a Godly perspective on this important area of life as well so you can use it as a tool to minister to others as they think about or plan to be married.  So let’s gather as a body of Christ and learn what God has to say about relationships and grow in His grace the next three weeks.  Pastor Gilmer will teach on Saturday night at 6 pm and both Modern Services on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  I will be teaching in the Classic Service at 9:30.

I also want to encourage you to connect in community by participating in a Life Group.  We just started Life Group last week so there is still time to join one.  Click on this link to see the different groups offered.

Join the ladies of Central for the Women’s Retreat on March 15 to 17!  Guest speaker is Anita Keagy of JoyShop Ministries and the retreat theme is Seeking God First.   To view the retreat brochure, go to this link.  Online registration is now available by going to this link.  (Log in using your Fellowship One log-in if you have one already.  If you don’t have one yet, click on “Create an Account”).

Join the Men's Ministry for a ski & snowboard trip to Shawnee Mountain on Saturday, February 9.  The group will leave from Central at 7:30 am and return at 4:30 pm. Cost is $64, which includes lessons, lift ticket, and rental equipment. No experience necessary. Reserve your spot by e-mailing Pastor Anthony Gilmer at agilmer@cbcnj.org.

Finally, thank you for all of you who participated in either donating food, or socks or served in our Meals and More outreach on Saturday.  You were the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are hurting.  I love your heart for those in need!

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: January 18, 2013

Dear Central Family,

This has been an amazing week! We kicked off a new life group season on Wednesday night and the building was a flurry of activity! Seventy five adults attended Life groups on Wednesday night and it was so exciting to hear the enthusiasm as we all gathered together to grow in our walk with Christ! Way to take the ball and run with it!  There is still time for you to sign up and get involved either on Wednesday night, Sunday morning, or during the week in one of our many Life Groups. These are great opportunities to connect with God and in community with others.  Just click on this link

The church is leaving the building again, and we need SOCKS!  Next Saturday, January 26, our CommunityConnections ministry will be serving our neighbors in Trenton through our Meals and More outreach.  We will be serving a meal of hot soup with sandwiches at the Salvation Army Drop-In Center as well as handing out thick, warm socks to help those on the streets get through these cold winter days. Did we mention we need SOCKS?  We need warm socks, more for men’s than women’s.  Stop by the table in the Fellowship Mall to drop off your sock donation this Sunday and to find out how you can help prior to or at the event.  Contact Cathy Brown (tnc.brown@verizon.net or 609-818-1480) with questions or to sign up.

The Women’s Retreat is coming up on March 15 to 17!  Join the ladies of Central for a time of refreshment, renewal and relaxation at the Sandy Cove Ministries Conference Center in North East, Maryland.

This Sunday we will conclude our Red Zone series with a message that if you choose to apply it will make a difference at home, at work, and at church...intrigued? I hope so!  I will be teaching Saturday night at 6 pm and in both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00.  Jared will be teaching in the Classic Service at 9:30!  Next week we will start a new series designed to instruct all of us on God's plan for marriage. We are calling it, Mr. and Mrs. Better Half. This series is designed for everyone whether married or single to understand God's heart in relationships. So plan to be with us!

See you Sunday!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: January 11, 2013

Dear Central Family,

What an awesome kick off we had to our new series Red Zone this past weekend!

I am looking forward to this weekend as we examine a key question, DO YOU KNOW YOUR OPPONENT?  How well are you equipped to win when the enemy is staring you down?   I will be teaching on Saturday night at 6 pm and both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00 am.  Jared will be teaching in the Classic service.  I can tell you I have been so challenged by what I have studied this week , so I look forward to how God is going to minister to all of us!

I want to tell you about the upcoming Meals and More event that our church’s CommunityConnections is coordinating.  We will be ministering to our neighbors in Trenton on Saturday, January 26 at the Salvation Army Drop-In Center by  serving a meal of hot soup and sandwiches as well as handing out thick, warm socks to help those on the streets get through these cold winter days.   Stop by the table in the Fellowship Mall this Sunday to find out how you can help through your donations or your time.  Contact Cathy Brown (tnc.brown@verizon.net) with questions, or to sign up.

The Life Group fair continues this Sunday in the Fellowship Mall!  Stop by, pick up a brochure, and check out all the groups that are being offered this semester.  The Life Group facilitators will be there to answer any questions.  To see a list of Life Groups or to sign up, go to http://worshipatcentral.org/lifegroups.aspx.  Get connected!

See you this weekend as we continue the Red Zone message series!  And again, feel free to wear your favorite football team jersey (either professional or college team) to add to the atmosphere.

Have a blessed day!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: January 4, 2013

Dear Central Family,

Happy New Year!  I hope that you enjoyed the Christmas and New Year holidays and are as excited about entering a new year as I am!

We are starting a new message series called Red Zone starting this weekend.  Using the football analogy (as it’s that time of the year) we are going to focus on what we need to be sure is taking place in our lives in order to be a winner in 2013. Spiritual growth is the goal, and we are going to be learning tools to get us into the end zone.  A new year is a time of new beginnings, and I hope you will be with us for any of our four worship services this weekend.  I will be teaching in the 6 pm Saturday night and both the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services.  Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the Classic Service at 9:30 in Allen Hall.   I know this series is going to be an encouragement to all of us and I am looking forward to what God will do.

Ladies, this Saturday (tomorrow) is the Women’s Annual Prayer Walk!  Start the new year off with prayer and fellowship with the women of our church.  The event starts at 9 am with breakfast and worship.  Childcare is available up to age 5 with advance registration by e-mailing kimber_martin@msn.com.

This Sunday, we will kick off our new Life Group season with our Life Group Fair, so plan to check out all the new opportunities you will have to connect in community and make friends this new year. Finally, I want to encourage you to continue to pray for our team serving in Haiti and the students who have been attending Passion 2013 in Atlanta that they will all  have a safe trip back home.  We have been hearing great reports as to how God has been working in both groups.

By the way, feel free to wear your favorite team jersey either professional or college team to add to the atmosphere.  See you this weekend!
