Central's Pastoral E-Letter: December 28, 2012

Dear Central Family,

I hope you are enjoying your time with family and friends this Christmas holiday...I know we are.

Just a reminder we will have no service this Saturday evening but we will have regular services this Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  I hope you will take advantage of this special time to come and worship with your Central family.

Also, please remember to pray for the Haiti team who left on their missions trip yesterday, returning on January 6.

I thank God for all He has done this past year and can't wait to see the exciting things before us in 2013.

I better cut this short…off to play games with the family!

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: December 21, 2012

Dear Central Family,

Merry Christmas!  The Central office has been busier than Santa’s workshop with all we have coming up this weekend.  So let me recap what is happening!

Saturday, December 22

Two shows of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”

4:00 pm and 6:00 pm

This fun, family-friendly presentation is a perfect place to invite your friends and neighbors to come and experience the true meaning of Christmas!  I hope that you will take time right now to invite someone to come with you.  If you can attend one of the shows on Saturday, that would be great to open up more seats for our guests on Sunday.

Sunday, December 23

Two more shows of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”

9:30 am and 11:00 am

We will also have a Classic Worship Service at 9:30 am in Allen Hall, with Jared Alcántara teaching and lots of wonderful Christmas music.

Monday, December 24

Two Christmas Eve Services

4:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Trenton

6:00 pm at Central

Both services will feature traditional music, carols, and a special Christmas story.  At the 4:00 pm service, we will join with our friends at First Baptist Church in Trenton at their facility at 128 Centre Street, so if you live in Trenton or are looking for an early celebration, this one is for you!   The 6:00 pm service will be in Ewing, and once again it is a great opportunity for you to invite friends to join you at either service.

Saturday, December 29 and Sunday, December 30

We want to give our faithful volunteers and staff a break so there will be NO Saturday night service, and childcare will be provided for Sunday Services up to age 5 only, so plan to bring your kids and celebrate the coming of the New Year!

Just a reminder that the offices will be closed from December 24 to 28 so our staff can get a long winter’s nap after the schedule they have all been keeping!

Finally, keep your eyes opened to our new message series that we will kick off on the weekend of January 5 and 6.  You will hear more this weekend.  It is going to be AMAZING!

So there you have it!  There is still time to invite your friends to come to the Grinch and to Christmas Eve.  Can’t wait to see what God is going to do!

See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

From Pastor Gay: Today's Tragedy in Connecticut

Dear Central Family,

I am joining with all of you in feeling sick in my soul over the loss of innocent life today in Newtown, Connecticut.  I am so sad for all of the families who are dealing with this act of evil.

I am drawn to the comfort that we find in Psalm 46 as we grab hold of our Father's hand.  I encourage you to take time and read this Psalm below, to pray for our Father to comfort these hurting families, and if God has blessed you with children or grandchildren to hug them and let them know you love them...I know I will.

We will take time this weekend in our services to seek God's face and the peace that only He can give as we reflect and rejoice in the Wonderful Counselor who is The Prince of Peace.

My love to you all.

Pastor Gay

Psalm 46

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song.

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Come and see the works of the Lord,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
    he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
    he burns the shields with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: December 14, 2012

Dear Central Family,

Things are a buzz around here as we see all of our volunteers prepare for the Christmas Store this Saturday and our Christmas Outreach next weekend!

I hope that you are planning on being with us this Sunday as we continue our series on the Grinch who stole Christmas.  This Sunday we will be learning how stress can steal your Christmas!  I think we can all agree with that!  So come plan to be encouraged and challenged and equipped to handle the stress that may be lurking at your heart’s door.  I will be teaching in the Saturday Night Service and both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00.  Pastor Bryan Bunagan, our Pastor of student Ministries will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service.  Lots of Christmas music and dynamic worship are planned for all our services this weekend, so it is a great opportunity to do what so many others have been doing: contact and invite a friend to come along with you!

A few other things to note:  We will be doing baptisms in each Modern Service this Sunday morning, so if you want to be baptized, bring a change of clothes and a willing heart and join us!  We will also be wrapping up our focus on generosity as we take a special love offering for our Haiti team that we will be commissioning and sending off to their December missions trip.  Finally, all you women are reminded to stop by the Women’s Ministry table in the Fellowship Mall and sign up for the upcoming Women’s Prayer Walk on Saturday, January 5 -- a great way to start the new year.

Looking forward to worshipping with you this weekend!

Enjoy that the Son has come!

Pastor Gay

P.S.  If you like the “Little Drummer Boy” carol, come early for the Modern Services and experience it in a whole NEW way!  It is going to be filled with JOY!

P.P.S. Some of you have asked for the link to see the video we took of the glow stick activity that we did last Sunday to illustrate what can happened when individuals all join together in a fun activity!  Here is the link.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: December 7, 2012

Dear Central Family,

What a great beginning we had to our Christmas series last weekend!

I hope that you are planning on being present this weekend and inviting someone to come with you.  We will look this week at how loneliness can steal our Christmas joy.  Pastor Gilmer will be teaching in the Classic Service and I will be teaching in both the Saturday night 6 pm service and both Modern Services on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00.  We have heard from many of you that are taking the step to invite a friend to come, so please pray that God will work as we share the joy that only Christ can bring!

You can find a full schedule of our Christmas events on our website so that is great place to encourage your friends and relatives to look in the days ahead.  This is an exciting time and a perfect time to reach out and invite someone to come with you.  See you this weekend!

Pastor Gay

P.S. If you are planning on coming to one of the Sunday morning Modern services, be sure and come early so you are in your seat as the service starts, or you will MISS out on something everyone will be talking about!
