Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 31, 2012

Dear Central,

Summer is almost done, and Fall is ready to kick off!  I hope you are ready and living expectantly for God to do some amazing things in you and through you this fall!  So here is a few things to keep in mind:

This Sunday:  Why has God left us here on earth, and not just taken us home to glory?  The answer is clear and convicting and we will be delivering it this Sunday!  I will be teaching in the Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00, and Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service.  So if you are not going to the shore one last time, get the family up and come and join us!  Tim Loesch will be leading us in worship in both Modern Services and we will be seeking God’s face together as a Church family… what more could you ask for?

I hope you have been praying about whom you can invite to Back to Church Weekend, September 8-9!  It is going to be an exciting time, and we will kick off with a new series I have called BETTER!  (See below).  Intrigued?  I hope so!  Let me just say it is one you will want to bring your friends to.  I also want you to know that as part of Back to Church Weekend, we are going to have a special Pie Bake Off!   Talk about retro!  We are asking you to make your favorite pie, bring it next Sunday, and we are then all going to enjoy it as part of our fellowship time, and vote on which one is BETTER!  It is going to be a lot of fun!

Don’t forget our new Saturday Nights @ Central kicks off on September 8th at 6 pm.  Who do you know who works or travels and cannot come on Sunday?  Go ahead and step out and invite them to come on Saturday night.  Can’t wait!

Gotta go… See you Sunday!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 24, 2012

Dear Central,

WOW!  This past Wednesday, we just finished an all day staff planning retreat, and are we pumped!  Wait till you see what plan God has led us to put together as a team based on our ministry priorities for this new ministry year that kicks off September 8!  Stay tuned!

WOW! This Sunday is  Commitment Sunday!  In both Modern Services we are going to challenge you to step out and take the plunge by showing your commitment to Christ by becoming baptized!  So just plan to come with an open heart to hear what God has to say to all of us as we finish our Summer Concert Series with the Church in Laodicea.  Read Revelation 3:14-22 to see how much Christ desires full commitment from all of us.  These are strong words from a loving Savior for all of us which I know will challenge us in many ways.  I will be teaching in the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services, and Jared will be back from vacation and teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service.  So if you are in town, come and be blessed!  Also, this Sunday is the last one in the Hot Potatoes Seminars, and this time, the topic is: “Homosexuality: Born this Way?”  The seminar will be offered at both 9:30 and 11:00 in Adult 1-3.

WOW!  Plans are in full gear for the new Saturday Night Service which will start September 8!  We are calling it Saturday Nights @ Central (catchy isn’t it ?)  This service is designed for you and your friends who work, travel, or serve on Sunday and are looking for a different kind of worship experience without the Sunday morning schedule hassles.  So get the word out!  Kids programs will be provided from birth-5th grade!

WOW!  This Sunday night we are going to be gathering for another monthly gospel prayer service at 6 pm.  We will be meeting at First Baptist Church in Trenton on  128 Centre Street.  First Baptist is where we saw God do some amazing things during Kids Camp Trenton, and we want to say thank you to our Lord for all He has done.  So come on out and worship and praise and pray with us, for God is doing great things!

See you Sunday!

Pastor Gay

P.S. WOW!  I almost forgot… Congregational Meeting after the 9:30 service to vote in new members. God keeps on adding to this body!  What else can I say but WOW! J

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 17, 2012

Dear Central family,

This has been a whirlwind week!  The Kids Camp at Trenton was a powerful witness of the prayers of God’s people and the power of the Holy Spirit at work!  Over 100 children were enrolled and we had exposure to so many unchurched kids every night.  Add to this we had a nightly Bible study for women and another for men that were well attended.  So the light shined bright this week every night on Centre Street in Trenton!  We could not have done this without your prayers and support!  Thank you, Central! Jesus was lifted up and now we are praying for fruit that will remain for eternity!

I hope you will be with us this Sunday!  We have two more stops on our Summer Concert Series through Asia Minor and we will be examining what Christ has to say to the church in Philadelphia!  There will be powerful words that will strike your heart, so if you are not on vacation, please plan to come.  I will be teaching in the Classic Service at 9:30 and Pastor Gilmer will be teaching in the Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00.  Please take some time to read Revelation 3:7-13 and ask the Spirit to speak to you, as it is going to be powerful!

Some important dates to keep in mind:

Sunday, August 26

Baptism in both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00

Gospel Prayer and Worship Service at First Baptist Church in Trenton at 6 pm

This is going to an alternative worship service with a relaxed atmosphere that will meet in the Fellowship Mall.  It’s a great opportunity for you to invite someone who can’t come on Sunday mornings to come with you on Saturday night.  Children’s programs from birth-5th grade.  Same message, great worship, different atmosphere!  We are looking for God to work in powerful ways! So get the word out!

Sunday, September 9

Start of new message series GET BACK Your Spiritual Momentum.  September 9 is a special Back to Church Sunday and we want to encourage you to plan to be here and to invite some friends to come along with you.  You will be learning more about this on Sunday!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 10, 2012

Hey Central!

I hope you are going to be with us this Sunday!  Please don’t let summer vacation cause you to check out from participating with us on Sunday mornings!

We have planned awesome worship and  dynamic heartfelt messages as we continue our tour through the Seven Churches of Revelation.  Next stop: SARDIS.  Please take some time to read Revelation 3:1-6 to see what Christ has to say to a DEAD church!  These will be powerful words of not only challenge but encouragement for all of us.  Our Pastor of Student Ministries, Bryan Bunagan, will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service, and I will be teaching in the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services.  If you are not out of town, please plan to be here to hear what the Spirit has to say to all of us!

This will be the second week of Hot Potatoes.  Plan to participate in lively teaching and discussion during the 9:30 and 11:00 hours in Adult 1-3 as we focus on the issue of Abortion from a biblical perspective.

Two more items:

Please pray as we take Kids Camp to Trenton at the First Baptist Church on Centre Street all next week.  If you want to help us out by donating a backpack or school supplies, please bring them with you this Sunday.

Finally, the Elders and Staff are very excited to announce a brand new worship venue that we are creating this fall!  We are calling it Saturday Nights @Central!  This is going to be a worship service that is designed for people who either work, travel, or serve on Sunday morning and are looking for a relaxed atmosphere to connect with God.  Saturday nights @Central will kick off September 8 at 6 pm!  So get the word out!  This is another way to see God work in powerful ways this fall! And one more thing: Children’s programs will be offered from birth to 5th grade!  Can’t wait!

See you Sunday!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 3, 2012

From Anthony Gilmer, Pastor of Spiritual Development

Dear Central Family,

Hope you are doing well!  I’m writing the pastoral letter this week as Pastor Gay takes some time away on vacation with his family.

This Sunday, we will continue our message series called Summer Concert Series, which is on the seven churches in the book of Revelation.  We will look at the church in Thyatira and participate in communion together.  You can get a preview of this next stop by reading Revelation 2:18-29. Jeremy will be teaching in the two Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00 and Jared will be in the Classic Service at 9:30 in Allen Hall.

This Sunday will also kick off the “Hot Potato” Seminars that will be held in Adult 1-3 at 9:30 & 11:00.  These seminars are on hot topics that are so hot that many churches choose to remain silent.  We believe that the church is the best place to get a biblical perspective on any topic, no matter how controversial.  This Sunday, John & Stephanie Tobey will lead the seminar on Child DisciplineWhen Words Aren’t Enough. Come and learn from experienced and certified counselors who love God and have been called to help families.

I also am excited to announce some exciting news about our Women’s Ministry.  Kim Martin and Dinah Jordan have agreed to serve as interim co-leaders as we seek a permanent leader to oversee the ministry. The Women’s Ministry Team is excited about rolling up their sleeves and helping out to make Fall 2012 a blessing for the women of Central and our community, so stay tuned for more information.

Just a few other quick but important announcements:

Kids Camp Trenton (August 13-17) - We are still in need of volunteers, backpacks and school supplies. You can sign up this Sunday in the Fellowship Mall to be part of this team or stop by to give a donation!

Baptism Service (August 26) – Come and celebrate what God is doing in the lives of people at Central.  Baptism is a great way of stepping out in obedience and declaring your new life in Christ.

Let’s finish this summer month with a bang. See you Sunday morning!

Pastor Anthony Gilmer

Pastor of Spiritual Development
