Central's Pastoral E-Letter: June 29, 2012

Dear Central!

Hope you were here last Sunday as we celebrated how God has worked through our church this past year.  What a tremendous weekend we enjoyed as we started with our Free Market outreach and finished with a Gospel Prayer Service!

This Sunday we will meet for Worship and Praise at 9:30 and 11:00 as we celebrate our Freedom in Christ!  Jared will be teaching in the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services and I will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service.  We will conclude each time of worship with communion as we remember why we are set free.  He whom the Son sets free is free indeed!

See you Sunday!

Prayer Request: Update

At last Sunday’s congregational business meeting, we had asked the church family to pray for a young woman named Jessica who is part of our church family.  Jessica is currently in Tanzania, Africa serving as a missionary and recently became ill with malaria symptoms.

We want to give you an update on this prayer request, as Jessica’s parents just heard from her: “We heard from Jess!  She is doing better, no fever.  Meds are working and she is getting excellent care from a pastor and his wife.  She is still very weak but she has her sense of humor back.  Praise God!”

Thank you so much for praying!  We ask that you continue to keep Jessica in your prayers.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: June 15, 2012

Dear Central Family,

God is moving in big ways here at Central, and let me just share a few things that have been happening!

Free Market:  The goods continue to come in for our Free Market Outreach.  You can still drop goods off this Saturday and Sunday.  Click HERE for a link to an awesome video that will show you how God worked through you this past week!  I want you to know that so far we have just under 200 guests confirmed that are coming, and there are still more social agencies to hear from!  Now I need your help!  We need you to ask what do you have that has blessed you that you can now give away to bless others?  You may say, “I don’t  know if I have anything.”  Then are you willing to take the step to go and sacrificially purchase something brand new to bless someone who has so little?  Would you ask God to show you what that thing is,  go and get it, and bring it in?  What kind of things are we looking for?  We are looking for small appliances, hardware, dishes/glasses/pots/pans/silverware other kitchen items, electronics, hardware kits, cleaning items.  I think you get the picture!  I know that our family is excited to bring in our stuff on Saturday and I hope you will do the same!  Just remember, we are blessed to be a blessing!  I can’t wait to see the faces of our many many guests who are going to feel the blessing of God because of your sacrifice.  So, let’s put this over the top!  We have rented a second pod for storage, so let’s fill it to the brim with blessings!

I Love My Church Sunday:  On Sunday, June 24, we are all going to celebrate what God has done this past year with testimonies and stories of His powerful love as expressed through His people.  All three services are going to be filled with praise, celebration, and I look forward to sharing with you what exciting next steps that God has placed before us to fulfill His vision of connecting people to God, community, and His Mission.  We will then meet as a full church family for lunch after the 11 service, and our annual Congregational Business Meeting.  You can register using this link.  So don’t get left out sign up today!  We will have a special lunch for the kids and child care will be provided up to age 5.

Finally, we will wrap up our Blessed Life series this Sunday by looking at how God has designed to reward us in the future for all of our little deeds of faithfulness today!  We are going to look at an often neglected topic of the Christian and future rewards.  I will be teaching in the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services, and Jared will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service in Allen Hall.  We also have a special gift for all Fathers who are in attendance this Sunday as our way of saying thank you for all that you Dads do to serve us.  Come early, stop by the table in the Fellowship Mall and get your free gift!

And don’t forget to sign up for upcoming Ewing Kids Camp, “Kickin’ It Old School!”  It promises to be a powerful experience for the kids of our community!  Sign up in the Fellowship Mall.

I am thankful for the way that we are all blessed as a Church with the countless volunteers that faithfully serve so that we can accomplish God’s mission for our Church!  As I said, God is moving, and He is moving through you!

See you Sunday!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: June 8, 2012

Dear Central Family,

What a great beginning we had with our new series, The Blessed Life that started last Sunday!  We all learned that we are blessed to bless others, and once again you stepped up as a body to the challenge to be a blessing through our upcoming Free Market on Saturday, June 23You can start to drop off your items to the Church starting this Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm.  So I hope that you will start to bring in your items so that we can start to process them.  I would also encourage you to let your friends and neighbors know, so that they can contribute to this outstanding outreach event.  If you have questions, just pick up a flyer this Sunday in the Welcome Center. We still are looking for servants to help with this outreach event, and you can sign up this Sunday, but come quick as the slots are filling quickly!

Don’t forget to sign up for our special All Church Lunch and Celebration on June 24!  We are calling this “I Love my Church” Sunday!  In all the services we will be hearing stories and testimonies about how God is at work in this congregation and we are going to praise God for what He has done and what He is going to do as we seek to continue to connect people to God, in Community, and to God’s Mission.  We will also be announcing some exciting steps we will be taking in the months ahead to fulfill this God given vision.  So plan to be here on June 24, and use this link to sign up for lunch.  During this lunch we will also be conducting our Annual Business Meeting, where we will elect officers and approve the budget for the new year.  Then we will conclude the day with a Gospel Prayer Service at 6 pm in the Fellowship Mall.  So you can see it is going to be a real day of Celebration and I hope you will be with us!

This week, we will enter Part 2 of what it means to live The Blessed Life.  I will be teaching in the two Modern Services at 9:30 and 11, and Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the Classic Service at 9:30.  We are going to be examining how God’s economy is different from our economy, and when God takes our meager resources, He is then able to do extraordinary things!

Hope to see you Sunday, God is moving, and I want you to be a part of it!

In His Grace,

Pastor Gay

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: June 2, 2012

Dear Central Family,

Have you ever taken time to consider how blessed we are?  How many things God has given so many of us while so many others have so little?  We are going to start a new series this Sunday that I have been looking forward to called “The Blessed Life”.  We are going to give praise and worship to God for all the ways He blesses us and then ask ourselves the question,  “What am I doing with what He has placed in our hands?”

We are going to be sharing a concrete way that all of us can get involved in an outreach to our community by just using what God has placed in our hands.  We are calling it a FREE MARKET, and you will be learning how you can get involved this Sunday.  Our CommunityConnections Team has been working tirelessly to put together plans for an outreach like we have NEVER seen before, so don’t miss one of our 3 Worship Services this Sunday to learn more. Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the 9:30 Classic Service and I will be teaching in the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Worship Services.

God has blessed our church with an outstanding staff and sometimes in His providence He moves individuals around for the sake of furthering His kingdom.  Joseline and Derek Capre will be moving to Atlanta Georgia the end of June, as Derek has taken a new job position in Atlanta.  Sunday, June 24 will be Joseline’s last day with us as Director of Children’s Ministries and we are so thankful for the way that God has used this family to bless us.  Joseline’s passion of reaching and teaching children in our Children’s Church programs and the part that Derek has brought in not only supporting Joseline but in being involved in pivotal roles in our Kids Camp the past two years has made a lasting impression on all of us.  We will  be honoring Joseline and Derek on June 24, and I hope that you will plan to be present to say “thank you”!  The Overseeing Elders have been working in seeking a new Director of Children’s Ministries and are hoping to have a public announcement in the next couple of weeks.

Finally, we have designated June 24 as “I Love My Church” Sunday!  We are going to celebrate all that God has done this past year here at Central as we have sought to connect people to God, in community, and to His mission.  All the worship services will be filled with testimonies and stories of what God has done and we are going to rejoice in the lives that have been changed through the power of His Spirit.  We will conclude the morning with an all-church lunch and Congregational Business Meeting for the purpose of voting in new officers and approving the new ministry budget.  We will also provide child care and lunches for the kids.  You can sign up today by going to this link, so please take time and do this right now!  It is going to be an awesome day.  (Please click on your response at the top of the page, enter your name and e-mail address, indicate how many will be attending, and list the ages of any children attending next to their names)

See you Sunday!
