Central's Pastoral E-Letter: May 25, 2012

Dear Central Family,

It is hard to believe that we are now approaching the Memorial Day holiday.  I hope that you will have some wonderful time to rest and reflect and just enjoy being with your friends and family.  I know that a number of our school districts have extended breaks due to the lack of snow days being used, so it should be a great weekend!

We are excited about a Sunday filled with worship and hope that if you are in town, you will plan to join us for one of our three services.  Jared Alcántara will be teaching in the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services and challenging all of us to connect the Old Testament with the Newer Testament in a motivating message that does just that.  I will be teaching on the person of the Holy Spirit in the 9:30 Classic Service as we consider His role in our daily lives.  I have appreciated Francis Chan’s book, Forgotten God, and have been challenged to think in a fresh way about the ministry that we have available to us 24/7.

Adult Life Groups kicked off this past week and it has been encouraging to see the involvement of so many who want to  grow in their walk with Christ.  If you have not joined one, check them out this Sunday.  The Junior and Senior High Life Groups will NOT meet this Sunday, but will pick up next week.

Enjoy your weekend!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: May 18, 2012

Dear Central Family,

I hope that you will be with us this Sunday as we wrap up our vision series we have called Kaleo.  We have been learning how we are called as followers of Christ and as a Church to mission, community, and this week to unityWe are a diverse body of believers, yet united to one Lord, one Faith, one hope, one Calling.  Tucker Brown, our chair of the elders, will be speaking in both Modern Worship Services at 9:30 and 11:00, and I will be preaching in the 9:30 Classic service.  I will tell you it is going to be a Sunday we are all going to be challenged in a number of ways, so please plan to attend!

I also hope that you have picked up a copy of our Ministry Priorities brochure, as this clearly lays out our priorities for effective ministry for the next three years.  You can pick one up in the Welcome Center, and an electronic copy is also attached to this e-mail.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that this week, we kick off our new term for LifeGroups.  There are so many different groups you can choose from that meet either at the church on Sunday or Wednesday, or in homes during the week.  Check out worshipatcentral.org for more info.  They are filling up fast, so don’t get left out!

See you Sunday!  Remember you are called!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: May 11, 2012

Dear Central!

I am writing this week’s email from Dallas!  Anthony, Jeremy, Bryan, and myself are attending the Catalyst Leadership Conference and will be back Saturday evening.  We’re in the middle of the second day of the conference and it’s been a real blessing to all of us!

I know I will be pumped and ready to go this Sunday!  We will enter week 2 in our series Kaleo, which speaks of our calling as followers of Christ and as a church.  This week we are going to look at what the Scriptures tell us about what I consider the greatest reason believers fail to experience: the abundant life God desires, and why so many times the church is failing to make an impact...what is that thing? You will have to come on Sunday to find out...Jared will be in the Classic Service and I will be preaching in both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00.... It is going to be a morning of blessing, so I look forward to seeing you then!

P.S.  Happy Mother’s Day!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: May 4, 2012

Dear Central Family,

Once again, God showed up and did what He alone can do: CHANGE LIVES!  The baptism services were an amazing display of God’s power and presence of His Spirit working in our midst.  You may not know it, but during the 11 am service, as a result of one person giving a testimony of how they were saved, the Lord worked to convict another one to bring them to repentance and faith, and they then got baptized the same day!  This is the kind of story that only God can make happen and we give Him all the glory and praise! God is definitely at work changing people’s lives right before our eyes!

This Sunday, I am beginning a new series called Kaleo!  What does that mean?  You will have to come and see for yourself!  I will be preaching in the two Modern Services, and Pastor Gilmer will be preaching in the Classic Worship Service. So you will not want to miss this Sunday and learn what Kaleo is all about!

See you Sunday!
