Central's Pastoral E-Letter: April 27, 2012

Dear Central,

I cannot wait for this Sunday!  We are going to finish our series Wake Up! We will focus on Waking up to Purpose!  We will be examining how God has a unique purpose that He wants us all to fulfill as we examine the unique calling he has placed on our lives.

We will conclude each Modern Service with a Celebration of Baptism. So far we already have a total of 10 people who have indicated that they want to be baptized, and we will once again be giving an open opportunity for anyone who wants to publically show they are followers of Jesus to step out and step in!  So just bring a change of clothes and get ready to take the plunge it is going to be a service of celebration and victory!

But that is not all… Scripture tells us to give honor where honor is due, and we are going to honor one of our Senior Saints this Sunday who has retired from 55 plus years of teaching 2-3 year olds in our Children’s Sunday SchoolMarie Breece has been a faithful servant who has impacted hundreds of children!  In all of our worship services on Sunday, we will be saying thank you to Marie for giving to the Lord.  We will then honor Marie with a reception in between the 9:30 and 11:00 services in the Fellowship Mall.  Please plan to be present and just say thank you!  I am amazed at the different generations who have been impacted by this faithful servant of Christ.

Finally, we will wrap up the morning with a special Congregational Meeting, where we will vote on the candidacies of Bryan Bunagan as Pastor of Student Ministries, and Jeremy Bell as Pastor of Worship and Mission.  We will meet in the Worship Center following the 11:00 service for this special meeting.  If you are a member, please plan to attend.  This is important as we move forward in our mission of connecting people to Christ.

Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: April 13, 2012

Dear Central family,

I hope you were able to be with us last weekend as we celebrated Easter at Central!  We were blessed from Good Friday through our five Easter weekend services with many guests and great feedback as to how people were impacted at all of the services.  We created two new worship venue options during the weekend: a Saturday night Alternative Service, and a Sunday morning 11:00 Acoustic Contemporary Service.  Both were very well received, and the surveys that were returned showed a real interest in both of these services as options to consider starting  in the future.  We will now take that information and prayerfully evaluate it as staff and elders to determine what next steps we need to take.  If you were not here last weekend, you can pick up a survey in the welcome center; we would love to get your feedback.

This Sunday we will continue our message series WAKE UP!  This week we will be focusing on Waking up to TRUTH!  We live in a world that is shouting at us that truth is relative and not absolute, and we need to be aware of this and be prepared with an answer for the hope that is in us.  I am looking forward to this Sunday!  Jared Alcántara will be preaching in the 9:30 Service, and I will be speaking in the 9:30 and 11:00 Modern Services.  I am also excited to tell you that I will be having two guest speakers with me helping me address this issue.  Ray and Sue Bohlin, who are with Probe Ministries in Dallas, Texas, will be sharing in each message how this subject impacts all of us.  Ray and Sue are involved daily in training and equipping believers to know the truth, to defend the truth, and to express the truth in loving ways that are impacting young adults around the world.  I know you are going to be encouraged by what they have to share.  So you can see this is not a Sunday you want to miss.

One last item:  We are planning another baptism celebration on Sunday, April 29.  So if you have been thinking about it, now is the time to take the plunge!  There will be an information meeting next Sunday, April 22 between the 9:30 and 11:00 service. Just show up and get all the info you need.

Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!
