Dear Central Family,

This is an early edition of my weekly e-letter, so I hope that you and your family are enjoying this special season.

A few things to keep in mind:

First, I hope to see you at one of our two Christmas Eve Services.  We will have two identical services at 5:30 and 7:00 pm.  Both services are meant for the whole family, so plan on bringing the kids as there will be a special children’s story.  Of course, the services will also feature all the great Christmas music that makes this time of worship so special—the majesty of the organ, the beauty of the handbells, and the warmth of the carols will all make these services a great start to your Christmas celebration.  We will conclude with a candlelight celebration of the One who came as the Light of the World.  I look forward to celebrating with you!

Second, we will finish the year with two Worship Celebrations on Sunday, December 27.  I have asked Pastor Gilmer to preach that day; I have sneaked a peak at his manuscript and you are in for a blessing.  I will be here just participating as a worshipper for the first hour (can’t wait!) and for the second hour, Kim and I will be leading our Kids’ Worship Time for 1st to 5th grade (double can’t wait!).  So plan to come and bring the kids as it will be a great morning.

I need to close because there are some last minute things I need to take care of!  See you Thursday night!

Dear Central Family,

This is a special time of year!

This Sunday before Christmas, we have planned for a special time of worship in both of our morning services.  We will feature wonderful Christmas music which will include performances from the children and our Handbell choir.  We are also going to do something we have never done before!  I can’t tell you what it is, but you will have to be here to experience it!  Finally, I will be concluding my mini-series Open Before Christmas as we look at another Gift the Lord has given all of us that we can’t afford to wait till Christmas to open; we need to rip open the package now!  I am looking forward to sharing this with you so I hope you will take time out to be with us on Sunday.  I know you will be blessed!

Christmas Eve this year will also be a special time with two identical worship services for the whole family.  We have shifted the times earlier this year, which I believe will make it easier for everyone to attend one of our worship services.  We will meet at 5:30 and 7 pm.  Please plan on bringing your family and friends!  These services will feature uplifting Christmas music, a children’s Christmas story, and a short (emphasis is short :) ) Christmas devotional.  We will wrap up (pun intended) the service with a celebration of Christ as the light of the world in a fun and exciting way!  Sorry, I can’t tell you what is happening; it is another Christmas secret!

Don’t you love this time of year?  I do, and I can’t wait to worship with you this Sunday and Thursday night.  See you then!

P.S. If there is any change in our Sunday schedule due to inclement weather, please check the website or the phone at the church.

Central's Pastoral E-Letter: December 4, 2009

Dear Central Family,

So where are you from?  That is a typical question that people ask when they meet you for the first time.

When it comes to our identity in Christ, it is a critical question that we know how to answer.  This Sunday, I will be wrapping up (no pun intended) my series, “Who Am I?” as I examine what the Bible has to say about us being from another world.  What does that mean?  What significance will it have in the way we live?  These will all be answered this Sunday and I am looking forward to sharing with you what God has to say on this topic.

I also hope that you are planning on coming to our Classic Christmas Concert this Sunday night at 6 pm.  Our Classic Worship Team has worked hard in putting together a night of traditional Christmas music that is the perfect opportunity for you to invite friends to come with you and experience the love of God through music.

Finally,  we are only one week away from our Christmas Outreach!  The Characters of Christmas is a great opportunity for you to invite friends to come with you to a fun evening of drama, music, and special treats.  There will be two shows on December 12: one at 3 pm and one at 7 pm.  Click on the times to send an e-mail about the event to a friend.  I saw firsthand the work that has gone into this evening as I attended a rehearsal last week, and you will be glad you came and brought some friends with you.  I know I am inviting neighbors to join us.

See you Sunday!
