Pastor's Musings: Central's Pastoral E-Letter: Friday, November 22, 2013

Dear Central,

I just got back from Catalyst One Day, a powerful one-day conference in Lancaster, PA with 30 of our leaders and I am very excited about what God is doing here at Central. The conference was a challenge and encouragement to all of us as we seek to lead this ministry. I thank God for all of our leaders!

This weekend, we will continue our focus on the Lord’s Prayer and examine the most misunderstood requests in this prayer. Which one is it? You will have to come to one of our five services to find out. I will be teaching on Saturday night and in both Modern Services on Sunday, and Dave Buschman, a university chaplain at Princeton University, will be teaching in the Classic and Unplugged services. I hope you will be at one of our services.

Some upcoming events:

~ Please note that tickets are now SOLD OUT for Central’s Thanksgiving Dinner this Sunday, November 24 at 6 pm. The event is now at full capacity.

~ Central's 3rd Annual Christmas Store will be held Saturday, December 14th from 10 am to 2 pm. This service and outreach opportunity is a way for those in our community experiencing severe financial hardship to maintain their dignity while providing gifts for their children. Visit the Christmas Store table in Fellowship Mall and sign out a tag to purchase an unwrapped gift for the store. You can also sign up to volunteer in a number of ways from donating supplies, setting up beforehand, or working in the store. You can also sign up to volunteer by clicking on this link. Questions? ~ The Angel Tree is now set up in Fellowship Mall. This program reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. You can take an "angel ornament” from the tree, purchase the gift requested, and return the wrapped gift to Central.

~ Love to bake? Then we have an opportunity for you! Please bring your favorite home-baked holiday cookies that will be served to our guests at Central’s Christmas outreach. Visit the table in the Fellowship Mall for more details and to sign up.

~ Central invites you to a free production of A Christmas Carol. Please join us for this fun family-friendly event for the whole community. Dates are: Friday, December 20th at 7 pm; Saturday, December 21st at 4 and 6 pm; and Sunday, December 22nd at 9:30 & 11 am. Invite your friends!

Next weekend (November 30 to December 1), we will be sharing with you all the other upcoming events we have planned for the Christmas season to which you can invite someone to come with you so they can experience the love of Christ.
