Dear Central, There is so much to be thankful for today! First, the overwhelming reports that we are getting from your service at Central Cares Day are so very exciting and encouraging! Thank you for getting out of your chairs and DOING SOMETHING! The light is shining brightly because of your obedience! Second, Pastor Gilmer and Elder Dan Libby led a very energetic and enthusiastic focus group this week as we look at making plans to put together a new leadership team for our Women's Ministry. I am thankful for the way women came together with heartfelt passion and brainstormed ideas. Keep watching for more details! Third, so many of you have been giving consistently to our Greater Campaign. Thank you for your faithfulness and for getting us off to a good start. Remember you can give by check (indicate Greater in the memo) or by going online. Personally, I love our online giving option, because it is so easy to use! If you need help with online giving, just give our office a call and Irene will walk you through the process. Finally, I am thankful for the new series we are kicking off this weekend! We are calling it Forgotten Virtues and it will be an in-depth study of what can be found in Matthew 5 and are known as the Beatitudes. We will be examining how practical and heart-challenging each of these promises that Christ makes to each of us. Our Teaching Pastor, Jared Alcántara, will teach in both the Classic at 9:30 and the Unplugged at 11:00. I will be teaching Saturday night at 6 and both Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00. I hope you will plan to come and bring a friend along with you. Let me offer you a challenge: no matter which worship service you attend, come on over to the Worship Center and check out the stage set up for this series… we are all very excited about it! Here is my challenge: see if you can find one item on the stage that has been around for a long time, but we haven’t seen it for a long time. The first person to guess (staff and praise team are not included—sorry guys!) and email me the correct answer will get a prize. So let me know. A few things to keep in mind: ~Kids Camp will be held on July 22 to 26! We are going to need an army of people to make this event a successful one, so we need volunteers! If you can serve, please e-mail Laurie Brett at lbrett@gtbhc.org or stop by the Kids Camp table at the Fellowship Mall this Sunday. ~Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, June 22 at 8 am! Come and enjoy an all you can eat breakfast as Dr. Charles Flores gives you great insights on how to take care of your body, soul, and spirit. Dr. Flores is a local physician (he and his wife attend Central) with a passion for helping men take better care of their health. ~Our Annual Business Meeting and All Church Lunch will be held on Sunday, June 30 at 12:15 pm! A delicious meal prepared by our excellent chefs will be served which will then be followed by our business meeting. The agenda includes: a ministry review, election of officers, and the presentation of the 2013-14 budget. Suggested donation for lunch is $3 a person and children 8 and under eat free. Please RSVP using this link. Childcare is available from birth to 5th grade *with prior reservation* (please indicate names and ages of your children in your response). See you this weekend! Anticipating God to do great things! Pastor Gay |
