From Pastor Gay: Today's Tragedy in Connecticut

Dear Central Family,

I am joining with all of you in feeling sick in my soul over the loss of innocent life today in Newtown, Connecticut.  I am so sad for all of the families who are dealing with this act of evil.

I am drawn to the comfort that we find in Psalm 46 as we grab hold of our Father's hand.  I encourage you to take time and read this Psalm below, to pray for our Father to comfort these hurting families, and if God has blessed you with children or grandchildren to hug them and let them know you love them...I know I will.

We will take time this weekend in our services to seek God's face and the peace that only He can give as we reflect and rejoice in the Wonderful Counselor who is The Prince of Peace.

My love to you all.

Pastor Gay

Psalm 46

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song.

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Come and see the works of the Lord,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
    he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
    he burns the shields with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
