Proverbs 26 New Living Translation (NLT) Honor is no more associated with fools 2 Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, 3 Guide a horse with a whip, a donkey with a bridle, 4 Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, 5 Be sure to answer the foolish arguments of fools, 6 Trusting a fool to convey a message 7 A proverb in the mouth of a fool 8 Honoring a fool 9 A proverb in the mouth of a fool 10 An employer who hires a fool or a bystander 11 As a dog returns to its vomit, 12 There is more hope for fools 13 The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road! 14 As a door swings back and forth on its hinges, 15 Lazy people take food in their hand 16 Lazy people consider themselves smarter 17 Interfering in someone else’s argument 18 Just as damaging 20 Fire goes out without wood, 21 A quarrelsome person starts fights 22 Rumors are dainty morsels 23 Smooth words may hide a wicked heart, 24 People may cover their hatred with pleasant words, 27 If you set a trap for others, 28 A lying tongue hates its victims, REFLECTION Lord, remind me today that out of the heart the mouth speaks, and that if I am having trouble with my speech that I need to have You examine my heart. Deliver me from excuses and rationalization and help me to be careful in how I communicate with others. May what I say bring grace to those around me and not tear them down. May how I say it build others up and not destroy them. Lord, thank You for the grace to change what I say and how I say it so it is pleasing to You. ----- |
