Proverbs 16 New Living Translation (NLT) We can make our own plans, 2 People may be pure in their own eyes, 3 Commit your actions to the Lord, 4 The Lord has made everything for his own purposes, 5 The Lord detests the proud; 6 Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin. 7 When people’s lives please the Lord, 8 Better to have little, with godliness, 9 We can make our plans, 10 The king speaks with divine wisdom; 11 The Lord demands accurate scales and balances; 12 A king detests wrongdoing, 13 The king is pleased with words from righteous lips; 14 The anger of the king is a deadly threat; 15 When the king smiles, there is life; 16 How much better to get wisdom than gold, 17 The path of the virtuous leads away from evil; 18 Pride goes before destruction, 19 Better to live humbly with the poor 20 Those who listen to instruction will prosper; 21 The wise are known for their understanding, 22 Discretion is a life-giving fountain to those who possess it, 23 From a wise mind comes wise speech; 24 Kind words are like honey— 25 There is a path before each person that seems right, 26 It is good for workers to have an appetite; 27 Scoundrels create trouble; 28 A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; 29 Violent people mislead their companions, 30 With narrowed eyes, people plot evil; 31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; 32 Better to be patient than powerful; 33 We may throw the dice, REFLECTION Lord, once again I recommit myself today to seek Your wisdom and understanding in everything that I will encounter today. I will choose to depend on You to direct me when I am making plans. Please give me the strength to keep me from evil in any way that comes before me. Deliver me from digging up evil by using my tongue for gossip or tearing down others. May Your Spirit rule my spirit today. Please help me to grow in wisdom! ----- |
