Proverbs 15 New Living Translation (NLT) A gentle answer deflects anger, 2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, 3 The Lord is watching everywhere, 4 Gentle words are a tree of life; 5 Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; 6 There is treasure in the house of the godly, 7 The lips of the wise give good advice; 8 The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, 9 The Lord detests the way of the wicked, 10 Whoever abandons the right path will be severely disciplined; 11 Even Death and Destruction hold no secrets from the Lord. 12 Mockers hate to be corrected, 13 A glad heart makes a happy face; 14 A wise person is hungry for knowledge, 15 For the despondent, every day brings trouble; 16 Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, 17 A bowl of vegetables with someone you love 18 A hot-tempered person starts fights; 19 A lazy person’s way is blocked with briers, 20 Sensible children bring joy to their father; 21 Foolishness brings joy to those with no sense; 22 Plans go wrong for lack of advice; 23 Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; 24 The path of life leads upward for the wise; 25 The Lord tears down the house of the proud, 26 The Lord detests evil plans, 27 Greed brings grief to the whole family, 28 The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking; 29 The Lord is far from the wicked, 30 A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; 31 If you listen to constructive criticism, 32 If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; 33 Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; REFLECTION Lord, today I want my spirit to be under Your control. If I have an occasion to be angry, may Your spirit give me a peaceful response. If I have an opportunity to encourage others, may I use my lips to say the right things at the right time. If my heart is tempted to be greedy for what I don’t have, may I respond with gratitude for what I do have. If I hear words of correction, may I listen and grow from them. All of this can only take place if Your Spirit controls me today. For this, I pray. ----- |
