Central's Pastoral E-Letter: August 3, 2012

From Anthony Gilmer, Pastor of Spiritual Development

Dear Central Family,

Hope you are doing well!  I’m writing the pastoral letter this week as Pastor Gay takes some time away on vacation with his family.

This Sunday, we will continue our message series called Summer Concert Series, which is on the seven churches in the book of Revelation.  We will look at the church in Thyatira and participate in communion together.  You can get a preview of this next stop by reading Revelation 2:18-29. Jeremy will be teaching in the two Modern Services at 9:30 and 11:00 and Jared will be in the Classic Service at 9:30 in Allen Hall.

This Sunday will also kick off the “Hot Potato” Seminars that will be held in Adult 1-3 at 9:30 & 11:00.  These seminars are on hot topics that are so hot that many churches choose to remain silent.  We believe that the church is the best place to get a biblical perspective on any topic, no matter how controversial.  This Sunday, John & Stephanie Tobey will lead the seminar on Child DisciplineWhen Words Aren’t Enough. Come and learn from experienced and certified counselors who love God and have been called to help families.

I also am excited to announce some exciting news about our Women’s Ministry.  Kim Martin and Dinah Jordan have agreed to serve as interim co-leaders as we seek a permanent leader to oversee the ministry. The Women’s Ministry Team is excited about rolling up their sleeves and helping out to make Fall 2012 a blessing for the women of Central and our community, so stay tuned for more information.

Just a few other quick but important announcements:

Kids Camp Trenton (August 13-17) - We are still in need of volunteers, backpacks and school supplies. You can sign up this Sunday in the Fellowship Mall to be part of this team or stop by to give a donation!

Baptism Service (August 26) – Come and celebrate what God is doing in the lives of people at Central.  Baptism is a great way of stepping out in obedience and declaring your new life in Christ.

Let’s finish this summer month with a bang. See you Sunday morning!

Pastor Anthony Gilmer

Pastor of Spiritual Development
