only one life...
Sunday afternoon I left home to make a trip 5 hours away to visit a dear friend who is in their last stage of life. What a joyous opp to spend time with a dear man who was a leader in our first church where I served as a youth pastor back in 1979. To spend time with him, to laugh, to cry, to remember the good days of ministry together, to pray with him and release him to His Savior, then to drive around the area where I ministered right after Bible college. This was a weekend filled with blessing. Came home yesterday after stopping and visiting another couple we ministered with who are in their late 80's and the man is 90. They are both serving the Lord so faithfully, and energetically. All I could say was thank you Lord for some awesome examples to me about what it means to finish well. A weekend I will not soon forget!

Glad to see you are blogging again, Pastor
Brother--
I remember you speaking about going to visit your brother, basically to say "I'll see you later...at THE HOUSE".
As you shared, actually, better said; as you witnessed and gave your testimony, and Brother Peters' testimony too, it really did us well.
I think it true to say there isn't one person who is old enough to really "know" a person at CBC who has not experienced the death of a loved one. What really stands out to me, and speaks to my heart from your testimony is what his wife told you; that even though he had been visibly "at death's door", on the day you were to arrive he was sitting up waiting for you; his friend. You mentioned that his wife said he had some questions for you and that you planned his funeral and everything...Hmmm.........
Now, Pastor, here is how your witness and testimony is speaking to my heart...
First, I have been called to do many things for our Lord but I pray that the Lord would grant me the privilege of being called to someone's bedside before they are ushered into the presence of the Lord; I mean requested as you were. WHAT AN HONOR AND NOBLE CALL PASTOR!! TALK ABOUT GLORIFYING GOD!! I really pray to be called to the bedside of whomever it may be that perhaps keep saying "no" as I shared the gospel with them and now...at "death's door" they ask for me to come. Is there any better "call" to receive for a child of the KING??
Secondly, thank you for sharing your testimony with us...it strengthens us and makes us spiritually healthy; both individually and collectively.
Thanks Pastor!!
Libby
