Jeremiah 1:4-5
Heard a dynamic message last night by AR Bernard from New York City at the Preaching Conference I am attending. I am still chewing on it it was so good! Talk about boosting your sense of destiny and dignity. I am just asking the Lord to seal this one deep in my heart. It settles so much as to who we are, why we are here, and where we are going in our lives, regardless of background, culture, inheritance, weaknesses. WOW! What an awesome God!

Hello Brothers and Sisters!!
Isn't it great to hear from our Pastor while he is away and hear how much he is being edified thru fellow Christian speakers in regard to preaching and a wonderful selection of "folks" to hear from; Colson, Batterson, Warren WOW!
Pastor, I was really interested though, to hear how you were impressed by Dr A R Bernard. I would encourage all who are reading this to tune into Dr Bernard and check him out sometime. Mom and I have been watching him for some time now (you can catch him on the Trinity Broadcasting Network-TBN), I was glad to come across him on TBN and see someone speaking the truth about our Lord...he will, as you said Pastor, leave you to "chew" on the message he gives.
I don't know Central Baptist; we always need to "buckle-up" when Pastor Gay steps into the pulpit to give God's message to us, but now, knowing that he has been away and obviously "impressed" upon by those the Lord gathered together on Pastor's (and the others) behalf, I think it advisable for us to put on a crash helmet this Sunday as well!!! :) I LOVE Pastor's preaching.
Looking at Jer.1:4-5; isn't it funny how we respond to God sometimes? ESPECIALLY when He comes to us and says..." I want you to..." In Jeremiah's case, he regarded his inability and inexperience (speech and his age) over God's abilility and even what God said to him first...
"before I formed you...I knew you...before you were born...I set you apart...I appointed you a prophet..."
It was God who formed, knew, set apart, and appointed as... NOT Jeremiah and NOT us!
We, like Jeremiah miss that which God has said He has already "done" where we are concerned. I think we miss (some of us) that this is a statement of God who is absolute so this is God's all-knowing cognizance of each one of us, (before I formed,I knew) and His sovereign plan for us even before we were born,(before you were born...set apart, appointed).
Family, some food for thought...
If God comes to us and says, "I want you to..." and our response is..."Sovereign Lord, I have no money...I've never been there...I'm not very smart...I'm sickly...They don't go to church...I can't"
Do we understand Jeremiah 1:4-5? Do we understand the sovereignty of God?
Lord, plant these truths into our hearts...starting with my own.

Libby,
Dr. Bernard, was awesome! The story he told about his background and what God has done in his life was unbelievable!
