Challenge and refreshment
I will be away for the next few days at a conference on preaching, looking forward to some good time to rest, reflect, and refresh as I hear from Chuck Colson, Mark Batterson of Chase the lion fame, and Rick Warren. Asking God to speak in a special way, it will be fun to just sit and soak in, while someone else delivers. Gotta love it!

I am so glad that you are being allowed a time to get away, reflect and refresh! Lord knows you deserve it, moreover, He knows you need it!!
What an incredible God we serve; God in three persons...blessed trinity.
I wish we(Christians) would all learn the importance and benefit of resting, reflecting and refreshing; "The 3 Christian R's"
Now, sure you could go camping, or to the shore but that is not what I am talking about, although you could surely sit on the beach, rest, reflect and so on.
I mean the 3 Christian R's (Pastor, I think this is what you are basking in right now)and really there is nothing like it; I am doing my "3 R's" during my recovery.
First, it is a call from God and IS NOT self-initiated or self anything for that matter; check it out--
REST is Christ saying to your spirit, shhh, stop, be still and stop flappin' your beaks because you aren't letting me talk!! For now settle yourself because I wish to speak to you and just "walk with you, be with you and spend time ALONE with you."
REFLECT--now the person of the Holy Spirit has His way and asks us, as God asked Adam, "where are you?" Now, that is not necessarily a bad thing unless, we, like Adam find ourselves clothed in fig leaves. I feel we are led to REFLECT under the counsel of the Holy Spirit as to where we are in regard to God...our spiritual condition. This is where God the Spirit asks the questions and makes comments and we have no choice but to REFLECT upon them. This is a GOOD thing not a bad thing and God does welcome our questions so ask them!You may be convicted of sin. GOOD! You may be given an arc to build like Noah, WOW! or...You may be sent off for heart surgery through discipline...BRRR...been there and dear brothers and sisters I survived and I am a better servant for my Master, besides, He disciplines us because He loves us.
So now our faithful Father, Abba Father will take His child who has been quieted and has RESTED with the Lord Jesus and who has been counseled and instucted by the Holy Spirit and taken the opportunity to reflect on 'where they' are and will REFRESH them with a newness, freshness, boldness and a blessed assurance of the victory we have in Christ Jesus...
His mercies are truly new every morning.
What an incredible God we serve; God in three persons...blessed trinity.
May God richly bless all who read and may we all embrace what God wants us to do
